Beatles - Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby Lead Guitar Secrets

Beatles guitar lesson PLEASE: Read video description below BEFORE COMMENTING. Lots of setup information is included.

The Beatles did a few covers of Carl Perkins songs. I eliminated a few verses and merged the two solos. Harrison used his Tennessean. I used a 1966 Gretsch Country Gentleman [which sounds quite similar] played through a Vox AD15VT set to AC30TB w/ no effects. Min Bass, Min Mid, Max Treble. .010 -.046 nickel plated wire wound strings. The amp was close-mic recorded with a Tascam DR07 digital recorder and then mixed with the backing tracks created from the original recording. My performance, with compression, is mixed with the backing tracks and the whole mix is limited. This is the way the Beatles recorded these early tunes. It is difficult to duplicate the sound with just the guitar and amp. No tabs.
My videos are really intended for accomplished guitarists who want to polish up their Beatles repertoire and can benefit from "seeing" how a song is played - I am not a guitar teacher and do not provide tabs. I welcome specific questions. If the various chords that I am playing are not familiar to you then I would suggest that you visit some of the many free guitar chord sites. I had to learn these songs by listening to vinyl records and watching live performances on tv.

Stuart Smith Thanx for your comment. There are many. I use MultiTrack Studio.($69 std, $119 Pro version). Most programs provide free trial versions. You can tell quickly if you don't like something, but once you've invested a lot of time in one it's hard to move on to another one. That's why they provide the free trial! You don't have to spend a lot.

Frederick Kruse First is X X X 13 15 15 which is based on E7#9w3. Then is X X X 13 12 12 which is E. Note that I barre the B and E strings at the 12th fret with my index finger so that changing between the two simply requires lifting my ring finger off of the B and E strings at the 15th fret.

It's difficult to answer. I've been studying Harrison's playing for decades. Before actually creating the video (and the others on this channel) I use the old stereo versions and then apply EQ to help isolate Harrison's performance. Sometimes I'll slow down the track as well. After a few hours of listening and playing, I can usually play along accurately. Sometimes I'll play back my performance the next day and find a few areas that I feel need further work. I must confess, I inherited my mother's musical ear which helps a lot.
