Although a life long beatles fan I had never heard it before and I love it. Its the only John/George song for the beatles. What really stands out for me is John's stunning rhythm playing, it really gives this song its catchy bounce. The same rhythm playing that took them to be the greatest Band there has ever been.

I absolutely love watching your videos! I play rhythm and always consult these for Lennon's early work! I have a request and although it's a long shot, I'd love to hear the September 11, 1962 version of Please Please Me done by you! It's my favorite version of the song and there a lot of differences from the final that I'd love to see done on time accurate equipment. I know you really only play the earlier Hamburg, Decca, and Cavern work, but I'd absolutely kill to see you play a cover of it in the future!

Later the guys from "The Shadows" helped out The Beatles when they came to Abby Studios and members from both groups became friends and this was before The Beatles became famous. The sound of The Shadows was of course Hank B. Marvin and his lead Stratocaster sound. Hank became good friends with Paul McCartney and they still are. Watch the video link below and look at the back and you will see Paul McCartney with a red Strat and glasses and wearing dark clothes and bow tie. *_That is Paul dressing up as Hank Marvin,_* he even copies that trade-mark way that Hank pushes his glasses back on his face. The whole video is great fun and even John Lennon liked it a lot. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWbRq3-Ha5iWb6c

G7 completes the verse pattern (C, Am x 4, F then G then back to C, Am, etc). I'm going from memory but that F and G in the verses should, I think, be F6 and G6. Bridge is E7, A7, D7, G7. Breakdown chord is played on the middle 4 strings, a G7 chord with added alternating notes C (on the B string) and A (on the G string) played at the same time. Cheers, J

Good Lord. I became a fan of the Beatles when Jack Paar ran a clip of them on the Tonight Show. I thought it was October of 1963, Google says January ‘64… He kind of ridiculed them but also said based on his observations in London, they could be big in the U.S. IMHO, the assassination of JFK made the Beatles the tremendous phenomenon they became as the loss of JFK meant the loss of The Future for the Youth Of America, leaving a huge hole in the psyche of everyone under 30 or so at that time. The Beatles began to fill that crater, along with the entire British Invasion. James Bond & Carnaby Street fashion also helped. Otherwise, that all might have been minor passing fads and The Beach Boys and the west coast crowd would likely have been dominant.
@eggsmann5942 жыл бұрын

@@eggsmann594 Were you over, say 6 in 1963? If not you wouldn’t know or understood the times. I’m not saying the Beatles were mediocre or just lucky. What I am saying is they wouldn’t likely have had the massive effect on post-War culture they did, had Kennedy not been assassinated. It hit the U. S. much like Queen Elizabeth’s passing and caused a deep cultural chasm between What Was and What Was Going To Be. If you aren’t a Boomer you won’t understand.
