The late Regan Russell animal rights activist and vegan is my hero. About this music: I always try to be different. Almost everyone out there is playing rock, and I do love it, but this is different. it's my take on a modern beatnik jazz style and a movement I am trying to make popular.

Cool man; very cool, oh and did I say it was cool? Yeah it was cool man. BTW I subscribed to your channel. I play the Trumpet myself and like to experiment with different styles of music from time to time, so thanks for your creativity to jam and experiment with. And a shout out to Billy Jack who helped me find this man's channel and that was pretty cool too.

Thank you much Sir. I'm always glad to see fellow musicians visiting my channel. This project is what I consider to be my best composing because it does serve its purpose quite well. In this project I combine the older beatnik style jazz with my own solid sound, and I incorporated catchy repetitive phrases for the purpose of enforcing what was "groovy" at that time. It all started when I was a small boy and my cousin Danny Calwell visited me. He had the old eight channel reel to reel recorder with him, and that was a big deal back then because they were very expensive at that time. He brought it to our house and played this unbelievably awesome beatnik style jazz for our family. That was way back in 1968. I was only seven years old at the time, but I was a gifted guitarist. When I heard that music I loved it, and it has stuck with me every since. Later in life, as soon as I purchased my recording studio, I started working on this project. It took a lot of research because, instead of just playing straight beatnik jazz, my objective was to produce something unique that actually captures the mood of that era. I learned a lot from the Dobbie Gillis show, but I also watched a lot of Peter Gunn episodes and many other clips from back then. That's where I discovered that the "groovy" thing to do at that time was to repeat specific phrases over and over again. Or, at least twice. It was popular among jazz musicians as well as teenagers who loved beatnik jazz and were into the beatnik scene.

@@guitarttimman Your very welcome Mr. Halcomb. Funny I was clowning around making jokes on another channel with you and stumbled on a like minded musician lol talk about irony. I don't believe I am on your level so in addition to the enjoyment in reviewing the songs you did on your channel I think I can pick up some pointers simply by listening. I haven't practiced in while due to a hematoma on my lip. They are not serious but it slowed my practicing down a bit. That said I know when I am putting in the work with some disciplined practicing, I tend to progress quickly. Most of what I like to play are improvisations to another song or beat. I have learned through the years almost all of the great Trumpet players have a different style and feel to how they play. They are not the same. And when you really start to listen to the isolated versions from the songs they were playing; in fact they were very different. It is an enigma, I also see this with drummers now that I am paying more attention to it and listening to what they are playing isolated from the rest of the song they were playing with. A good bass player and drummers using jazz techniques works for me. As I am still learning Jazz has a lot of flexibility to it, for example the late great drummer for Led Zeppelin aka Bonzo apparently used the style of a jazz drummer, and also unique to rock and roll he followed the lead guitar "instead" of the bass player ! Hold that thought; I was actually able to pull something similar off in following the lead guitar in a jam session with my horn playing. This guy was a pro and the rest of us were amateurs, so a compliment coming from him was enough to motivate me to continue this experimentation. You mentioned you were a gifted guitarist, so I will be checking out anything you have added or downloaded to your channel regarding your guitar playing. BTW I am a New Yorker live about an hour from New York City, so if you are from NY and are playing live sessions Iwouldn't mind stopping in to hear you jam. Paul

I love the mix of the beatnik jazz sound, I seared I hear a bit of fusion and then the wah in there too. To be honest I personally got frustrated with the number of times "It's Just Cool" was repeated, but that's just me. Relaxing, wonderfully rhythmic and pleasant to listen to. Nice job!
@guitarttimman

Thank you very much Brian. Your words and opinion is very much appreciated and merited. And, I think a bit of an elaboration is in order: Before I started this project, I did some research on the attitude of the Beatnik Movement which led me way back to many episodes of that old 60's show Dobie Gillis with emphasis on Maynard G. Krebs portrayed by Bob Denver, And, then Peter Gunn where I was majorly influenced by the music and "lango" in that episode, Beatnik Bar, Modern Art, where Pete is conversing with beatnik Wilbur who's using the dialect. And, the first recording I completed was actually done without any background talking whatsoever. Well, after listening to it a few times, I said to myself, "something is missing," thought about it, and then it hit me, wow! it needs to be embellished with beatnik talk. So, I kept adding a little each time, re-listening, adding, etc. Finally, I came up with the finished product, listened, and thought about it. Well, it does seem that the beatniks of that era did do a lot of "repeating" so I tailored it around that idea. Thanks again man. You Rock!

That's pretty funny, I used to watch Dobie Gillis and always have enjoyed jazz. I understand the reasoning behind the repeating, and I appreciate your understanding of it only being my opinion, it is a good representation of jazz at the time. You did a wonderful job with it. Maynard G. Krebs...that brings back a few of the memories years of pain meds destroyed, loved watching Bob Denver in that roll. Keep up the good work. You Rock my friend, OUT LOUD!!!

Did you listen to this song all the way through? If you did, then you know that I'm smart. I make use of several different modes. I played all of the instruments but the drums. The drums were done with a machine. I wrote this music, and I put it together. I know how to put things together and to make them work.
