Thanks for the detailed walk-through! Just installed into our new-to-us 2012 GX Premium. Works like a charm! FYI, the kit doesn't come with double-sided tape, only adhesive foam for reduction vibration I'm guessing when you mount the boxes under the gear shifter cover. 9.9/10!

I have a 2010 GX460 and I want to install apple carplay. Although it was a 2010 I am concerned about the original screen not being able to have swipe function. What would you recommend to have a swipe ready screen? And still having that clean OEM look?

Unfortunately we reuse the factory screen and it's capabilities to provide the OEM experience and OEM look. The CarPlay screen will also be a tap screen, not upgrade to something like swiping as the physical hardware does not allow for swipe.

Got mine ready to install, I notice the instructions mention firmware has been updated. Do y’all ever anticipate updating firmware post sale, and if so, is that something the end user can do? Lastly, how is that done on each box, so that maybe I can consider placement to make that easier in the future?

There was a usb flush mount that fit in the hole but unfortunately we’re not sure where we sourced it. Try to measure the factory base and see if there’s one on amazon that fits the same size

Installed this on my '12 GX460. Works great. Only issue I've run into so far is I'm needing to turn the volume up almost 40-50% on the vehicle before I get to a moderate level of volume. Any solution to this? I'd like to avoid blowing my eardrums in the chance that the source gets switched to fm radio from the carplay.

Unfortunately this kit does not work as a nav/dvd in motion bypass. The carplay/aa does not require a bypass to operate while you are driving. We have discontinued the nav/dvd in motion for this vehicle

Can you utilize Waze (and other apps) using this unit or is it preconfigured with the only apps you can use?

You can use Waze and other apps that are compatible with Android auto and carplay. They will show up automatically if they are installed in your phone

This doesn’t affect dvd playability. Rear screens should not show anything when carplay is up on front unless dvd is being played in the background; then the dvd should play

When you say "you will lose camera functionality", do you mean, even pressing the camera button on the steering wheel will not bring up the cameras? Or they just won't automatically pop up on the screen?

@@lu_camps correct, your cameras will stop functioning if you have the side cameras. Even when you change your gear to reverse it won’t show. So you will lose your factory cameras. As such we don’t recommend this kit with vehicles equipped with the extra cameras
