Listening to Tool - The Pot (thoughts and opinion)

Unlike 99% of Tool's song the Pot has a straight forward meaning about a specific event. though Maynard's use of alliteration and metaphor the meaning is obscured to most listening. during the early stages of writing 10,000 Days a friend of Danny Carey was driving through Arizona and got pulled over by a cop, a roach of a marijuana joint was found in the car. the Friend was than arrested and went in front of a judge who was known for giving the stiffest sentence is the nation to cannabis offenders. mere days after the friend was sentenced the Judge was arrested in a motel room with two prostitues heroin and crack. Hence Liar Lawyer mirror for you whats the difference

Thank you for that. I now love my favorite Tool song even more now because of that awesome info. On a side note I had a friend get pulled over with a blunt of herb in Arizona, maybe 0.5 grams and ended up doing almost 2 years for it. So I absolutely believe that story.

there are several interviews in which Maynard brings in up and at least 1 interview in which Danny discusses it. at this point its been a few years so I don't remember exactly which interviews. this topic has been commonly discussed in several Tool groups that I'm a member of as well.

The verse is in 4/4. really. It's played in an unorthodox syncopation, but 4/4 nonetheless. It goes into a 3/4 in the bridge, and 6/4 during the breakdown before the final verse, but they keep it straightforward.

Nice to see you again, Jim! This was a pit of a surprising pick, but never the less sooooo platinum with big diamonds. That bass is so strong and collaborating perfectly with the drums. And the guitar is there for the music, no single note too many or too much. Grooves like a moose!

shotokanclau I’ve listened to Cassandra three times now in the last 24 hours. I will never be able to get over how incredible this one song is (all their songs, I’m obviously biased). I don’t know if I can fully compare it to anything else. All I know is this track (this epic band) should be explored by all music appreciators because they deliver the goods. Yay Jim's back. Jim a teaspoon of dried Oregano made into a cup of tea will always help every ill, it's a natural antitbiotic, antimicrobial, and antispasmodic. I have had to give conventional syrups and things that contain real or fake sugars, but oregano killed a hacking cough in two days with nothing else. I usually have a cup of it along side my coffee in the morning about twice a week. Keep doing TOOL love, and I love the additional cameras!! Much love from the midwest. #stuckinMO

Glad to hear you're still enjoying Fear Inoculum. The tour supporting it was a breathing testament to the evolution of musical production, and loud as fuck! KJ bass was fucking bone rattling and Tool was more polished than I've ever heard them, the accompanying visual effects were simply stunning.
