I genuinely just hid in a bathroom at Starbucks to hide the fact that this song made me tear up. I’m an indie writer who suffers from severe depression in lieu of uncontrollable life circumstances of which I’ll spare you the sob stories. I write novels as my main thing, but I’ve written over a thousand poems simply as passion projects. Mostly I use them to channel grief. When I heard these lyrics, it felt like I was reading from the pages of my own journal, the depressing poems I post on my blog, or straight up just my thoughts in general. It’s so similar even down to the angle/demon line. I wrote in reference to my parents once: My father was the devil, but my mother was a saint Half a demon, half an angel when they mixed my DNA I dunno. This song just gave me chills, and I’m glad AF that Starbucks plays the radio bc I never would’ve discovered it. Thank you for recording it. Truly. ❤
