Beautifully serene body of work (aka. pleasure). Just like the last person commenting, I think I will add this to my to-do list ... I will just skip the knee-deep mud episode, if I can. Great stuff.

It's wild how the water levels change the conditions of the put ins/take outs of portages. We did those first 9 portages last week and putting in at South Cannisby was the toughest for us (higher water levels and lots more mud). Cradle lake's was probably one of the easiest for us. Great vid!

Awesome dude, I think I was in the park at the same time as you, incredible weather!! I started from Brent, up Petawawa, Catfish, Burntroot, WhiskeyJAck and then Nippissing river all the way back to Cedar lake, 6 days! Video will be a while, but I saw a couple of moose and fishing in the nip was good! Keep on adventuring brother awesome.

Awesome video Kev, beautiful shots. Sorry about the camera, bummer, but the phone footage is great 👌 it’s all that we use for our videos (not saying a proper camera isn’t better - but I use a phone for simplicity and ease which keeps the focus on the trip) glad you didn’t let the incident ruin your mood!

Stunning. Thank you. We did that section between Lawrence, Louisa, North Grace and Bonnechere in the spring, except we were going the opposite direction. That portage out of Lost Shoe was a tough one indeed. We had trouble finding it from the Lost Shoe end until we got through those boulders (the lake was flooded and there was no trail at the sign). We wondered if a beaver dam may have been breached on Lemon Lake, the water's were so receded (as you noticed too!) Anyway thank you for taking us back again in the fall! Your music choice is lovely too.

Oh wow! I always find it so interesting how the park can change so drastically within a season. The same route can be done multiple times and it will always feel different. The first time I visited Lost Shoe, half the lake was covered in lily pads :)

Kev, how many miles do you average per day. I paddled 11 miles on a challenging river in upstate New York during rain and was exhausted. You look like you cover a lot more ground than that plus portages. Great filming. It makes one feel like we're there with you. Good sruff. Gotta try that candy bar you like.😊
@kevinthewild
@kevinthewild 7 ай бұрын
Depends on the trip, but I normally aim for 20km / 12.5 miles per day. My daily mileage on this trip was less than that. The most I have ever covered is 100 miles in two days, but that was more of a personal challenge than for enjoyment lol.

Hey Kev, do you know what time of the year you went? Looking at doing a similar trip - curious when it comes to campsites and wild camping, are the sites you picked first come first serve basis? Thanks!
@kevinthewild
@kevinthewild 4 ай бұрын
Hey there! This trip was during the end of September into the first days of October. In Algonquin Park reservations are based on the lake you wish to stay at on a particular night. Campsites on that lake are then first-come first-serve.

Kev, I really enjoy your channel. I just turned 70 last month. I love to hike and camp. But, I couldn't handle a portage with my worn shoulders and knees from playing sports my entire life. A hike I can handle but I couldn't imagine carrying a canoe on my back for a mile or so. Five portages in one day? I give you props for that. These are really good videos. We feel like were along for the ride. That's best complement you could get. Video work is awesome too. I'm not good at the video kind of stuff so it makes me appreciate the videos even more. Nice work.
