I was born in 1956. I don't really remember seeing the black and white episodes in 1965, but I sure remember seeing the color episodes starting at age 10. In those days, I didn't know much about "romance," but I'm sure that "Jeannie" first activated those instincts. I guess that I spent the next 50+ years searching for MY Jeannie. The Thai version that I've been married to and living with in Bangkok since 1999 pretty much fulfilled the right image - but just hasn't been quite as clever and devoted as the 2,000 year-old prototype ….. at least not yet!!!! Then again - I only ever reached the military rank of "Captain" (and in the 'Army'), so any shortfalls may very well have been my responsibility …… Hmm….
