That was an amazing trip down memory lane, he explained everything so clearly and left nothing unsaid, What a marvel to not only have a piece of jewellery that was made 200 years ago but for it to have that amazing glass from the roman era made it even the more special. To think that they had the technology back then to do something that couldn't be replicated for more than a thousand years is just mind boggling, Roman technology was so advanced

I have ancient Roman jewelry that I do wear, but one must be incredibly careful, not only because of the intrinsic value and age of the pieces, but the extreme content of lead that is in Roman glass and jewelry! The same goes for my Ancient Roman Coinage. It shouldn't really be handled much, but there's tons of lead contained in the coins as well.

In all honesty, Roman glass is NOT as rare as most would believe(intact vessels are typically very small...larger glass artifacts are seldom found intact). It's actually harder to find more recent medieval glass, as it was rarely made for anything other than cathedral windows.

Shocking ignorance. Judeo Christian values have brought more advancement, freedom, education, safety & wealth to the word (largely via open market Captalism) than any other philosophy. Would you prefer Roman slavery (where owners could legally rape, beat & kill their chattel), Roman political inequality (ancient Roman voting was only for male land owners - about 10% of the population: "Shut up you 90% & serve your Lords!") , Roman brutalism (public killings of slaves & animals by the thousand, for entertainment. Criminal mayhem amongst the poor, who weren't protected unless they were of some use to a free man), Roman hedonists (aspiring to live for personal pleasures at the cost of quality of life to anyone who can be used to that end. "Wealthy people only please - after we're served, you poor people can prey on each other at will!") to the liberal society that we've created over the last 300 years in the countries where Judeo Christain values have triumphed. The more prosperous parts of Europe, GB, The Americas. Where people live in relative luxury and have rights that are unprecedented in human history (excepting "liberal" Socialist states like Venuzuela, obviously, where a few hold power & the rest fuel the machine). In the entire world, France first, then England, then the US outlawed slavery - a worldwide institution for all time - & mobilized military to fight against it abroad, at great expencse & largely fruitlessly, for many years. There are still MILLIONS of slaves in the world TODAY in un-Westernized countries that under-educated Westerners seem not to be aware of. Does anyone care? There is still culturally accepted slavery in the Congo, Middle East, China, India & many other places where other religions prevail, in societies geared on VALUES similar to Ancient Rome's. By that, I mean wealth & liberty to those on top, & the masses can scrabble for survival. Roman senators & pholosophers waxed lyric about liberal values regarding their OWN lives, not uplifting the masses, lol). Snap out of your fantasy of majestically sweeping around in a toga & maybe join the movement of compassion, education, personal freedom, industry. You don't have to join the church, just wise up to a pholosophy that has prevailed because it benefits humans the most, across the board. You MUST believe in natural selection, right? Work to the best of your ability, give compassionately, be independant if you can, represent for freedom of choice - which gives us all the opportunity to better ourselves & help those around us that can't. And drop the resentful attitude, based on believing lies from people who want to tear down what works, to acquire power & benefits for THEMSELVES (shout out to Socialist Democrats!).
