Beautiful Cab Ride in 4K - Driver's Eye View on one of America’s Greatest Model Train Layouts

Model railroads are particularly impressive when you can explore them from the driver's eye view. It becomes very interesting when the model railroad layout is larger than average. Let's go for a cab ride on one of America’s greatest model train layouts in HO scale. During this model train journey we discover the amazing “Penn Falls Railroad” that is maintained by the members of the Chelten Hills Model Railroad Club in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, United States. The club owns a 25 x 80 foot (approximately 8 x 25 meters) DCC controlled HO scale model railway layout that is lovingly maintained by model railroaders for over 50 years.
The model railway contains of more than 1,750 feet of track (approximately 550 meters), 150 turnouts, amazing details and hundreds of steam trains, steam locomotives, diesel locomotives, freight cars and passenger cars. During the train driver's view video, it becomes clear how ingeniously the model train layout was designed. The track plan allows literally infinite train rides, circuits, loops and a lot of prototypical railroad operating sessions.

Great! Most interesting to me: 1) The smoothness of the tracks. Even with the many switches and crossovers. Like flying with precise stabilization. 2) the speed, which is representative of a large train moving on excellent track going ~ 100 km/h. 3) The longest passenger train I have ever seen in model railroading! 4) The longest coal train I have ever seen in model railroading! I like the layout and all the nice little touches like the fairground, lighthouse, statue of liberty 🗽 and the model ship. I think the train could have been moving a tad slower which would have made it better. I really enjoyed this video though.

DEV- the Driver's Eye View. Very cool. Great layout. Different perspective on driving a model train. Reverse view next? On the caboose- showing the train & layout? A 360-cam view would be an interesting view also. Somewhere in my attic are some post WW2 Lionel trains- my dad set up for us boys back in the day. RR is known for Riding the Rails- something my grandfather did back in the Great Depression going from city to city looking for work.

I agree with the other commenters that the train is going too fast. But, I still enjoyed the ride. When I'm watching this video, I feel like I'm an engineer piloting the Milwaukee Road F-7 "Baltic" hudson type steam locomotive pulling the Hiawatha consist and doing about 110 mph! It's nice to dream! 🚂 😁

Very impressive, hours of building, designing, this has to be a club.. or is it a one owner layout….either case this is awesome. The only layout I saw was in Germany with real water in a basin with a boat actually moving. The other one is I believe also in Germany an airport with planes that moves and take off and land with daylight and nights all computerized with moving vehicules….very impressive. Congratz to the people of this layout

Breathtaking! But I prefer views from above so that I can see the details of the scenery, because it is not possible when driving fast and looking from the cabin. Although the view from the cabin has its own charm. Maybe it could have been done partly as a view from the cabin and partly as a view from above.🚉👍
