in order to set the ballast I use 50% PVA glue with water and a drop of dishwashing solution to break the surface tension then spray the ballast leave until dry this is a fantastic build very informative

Perfect Ken! People of all ages enjoy trains, and I had two uncles who were very involved in trains. I got involved with RC airplanes 40+ years ago, and finally set up a very small train for Christmas this year. It’s not 1/1000 of your display, but who knows where it might lead. Thanks for Sharing!

I use cork roadbed to place the track on. Works great for ballasting. I try to use hand thrown switches whenever I can as it adds a little more realism for switching. Of course in those areas you cannot reach, an electric switch is warranted. Cheers from eastern TN

What a good man you are...very nice lifestyle...I really liked what you did with the ballast....it's true to life the way you did it...why not! Tamping it even lol..I'd think that after you completed the ballast and glued what you want to stay....taking a cordless air (leaf blower) you can kind of blow the table off and boom cleaned! Regardless your a great man..great tinkerer...nice job!

Not easy for guys our age to attempt moving sheets of OSB and plywood by ourselves, getting under the table to wire and finally the SPACE needed for a HO layout. The important thing is you’re enjoying yourself and you find satisfaction with what you’re doing 👌🏼👍🏻

I did the same dimensions for N scale. I was able to use trailer hoists(like you use to pull a boat onto a trailer ) to pull it up into the ceiling. Had two of those to work that. Removable hooks from those to each corner. Wheels also on the bottom so I could roll it around when it was down on the floor. I didn't go to the solid table top as fast as you did. Really did more of a of a cutout track plan tied it to a subframe. Three levels with a helix on one end. A hidden level was on the bottom for staging and storage.
