Thanks, posting these videos. I'm stuck in a Brisbane hotel doing the mandatory 14 day Covid quarantine after working in Tokyo on the Olympic television broadcast. I have my bike in the room on a static trainer with the TV straight in front. It's almost like in riding along with you. Actually in my mind i did. I lived in Nagoya back in 1989 as an english teacher. I met my wife there and loved it. I have been back 30 odd times. She is from near Inuyama. I am still friends with an american guy who was from Wisconsin who works at a University in Nagoya. He has been there nearly 35 years now. Thanks again for the ride, I'm going to do that ride next time I visit the paddies. Cheers Stu.

35:56 I use a small blinking white light on the front handlebars pointed forward and it has stopped almost all incidents of cars pulling out in front of me and cutting me off. You wouldn't think the light wouldn't make that much of a difference, but it does! I highly recommend getting one if you ride on road with cars. I also use a small red blinking light on my seat post to alert those cars I can't see.

Cruise, we like the cicada noise in the background audio because we are use to hearing it when watching anime! sound of cicada during summer to me at least (in my mind) ubiquitous part of the fabric of Japan! It's an older TCR. She likes it, but wants something even lighter lol
Japan is definitely better for cycling than the UK because of all the narrow roads and the wide pavements in cities. But it also shares this problem where the good infrastructure isn’t consistent or connected together. And therefore isn’t much good for people who aren’t experienced and confident cyclists. But even if it’s not connected up, I wish I had some of these types of routes near me. I’m itching to go for a long ride.
