Morley, good morning, I’m following a fellow in Australia ,Pedulla woodworking; He makes high end furniture. I’ve seen him do some steam bending ; and I’m sure there are as many ways to do it as there are people doing it or thinking of doing it. Anyway he has some Excellent videos of his technique. What I watched him do - he cut the wood in thin strips, thickness wise, about 1/8” and worked his bends into a laminations, this seemed easier but was not like spreading soft butter. I thought you might like to watch this as it seemed a unique way to bend strange lumber, and you’re always taking on new challenges. Wilber 👴🏻& Margaret 🧑🦳from the lower 48 safe travels 🚀

For that white paint that shows between the window frame and the window, you can get masking tape to cover the wooden frame so that it isn't ruined by the paint. Then, you can get a paint brush, and then paint it black.

The frames look good, but I'm not a fan of the visible kerfs for the bending. It would look better if you cut curved pieces for the corners and joined them to the straight pieces. To finish it up and add strength, add some contrasting splines in the corners.

What you experienced does not look like kickback, it looks like what happens when you plunge your blade too far into the wood, instead of plunging in front of the wood with little to no contact with the blade and then advancing through the cut. When you plunge with a lot of your blade in contact with the wood, the blade will grab the wood and pull the saw towards the wood due to the direction of the teeth. Because this happens so abruptly, it can cause the saw and track to move a bit, which can look like kickback. Two solutions are to try to plunge with as little wood contacting the blade and then advancing through the cut, or to do multiple shallower cuts.
