I wanna know why the fuck this got so much hate. The whole point of theatre and drama is interpretation. This was their version of a musical and it was real good. The OG set the bar and due to this fandom, it's gonna be hard shoes to fill. In my opinion I think it was brill and I wouldn't change a thing! Well done guys!!!!

I agree, hate isn't good, but criticism is. And luckily, it's mostly criticism. I also agree it is up to interpretation, but some characters and lyrics shouldn't be twisted so much the original is unrecognizable. Making Veronica more 'fragile' instead of cynical or sassy like in the movie and the musical, is sorta like making Ram and Kurt less annoying but still performing the same parts, or another example, making Heather M. more of a serious creepy character when, although not the brightest, is still supposed to have a relevant part later on. Her delivery on the cleaver line was off putting and just not like a popular girl. Chandler, Ram, Kurt and the background are all good considerably (can't do to much with age), but some interpretations are better loose than original. Example: all JDs on the Broadway musical in Freeze Your Brain deliver "don't open a vein" differently, but at a point where it's still sensible for him to be angry or sad, etc.

Duke is a cunning Slytherin, keen to take the throne of the almighty with clever tricks and power, then eventually becoming an evil yet intelligent powerful being. MacNamara is a Hufflepuff, just passively following the story, seeming tough but actually sweet, shy, and wants to let down her guard, at least a little bit. She’s reliable and stays loyal and good till the end. Veronica is a Ravenclaw, smart and witty with her strategies. Can be a bit airy, but not afraid to do what she wills. Quite sly and quick, can sometimes make wrong decisions, but she’s wise and knows what’s best for people. And Chandler, the “mythic bitch”. Yup, definitely a Gryffindor. Some Gryffindors are soft, but she was a brave and all mighty leader, just like one. She flaunts her power with bravery, unfortunately getting herself killed, but she’s still a memorable clique leader. Just my takes on them being houses :)

I love the fact that you guys made your own version, and made it unique to yourselves. I know that so many other people prefer the original, and hate when other people try to "copy" other people, but I love when people do that. Original cast recordings can get so boring, and even though the original cast sounds absolutely beautiful, you guys sound absolutely beautiful as well. I would've loved to see this live, and even thought I can only get a little bit off of youtube, I'm satisfied with what I've seen. Even just this song sounded amazing, and I love that you added your own meanings to the lines, and didn't copy what the original cast did. Like I said before, you made it true to yourselves, and made something original for you. The choreography was different (by the way, that choreography was AMAZINGGGG!), the way you guys said and sang each line or lyric, and even the way you portrayed the characters was altogether amazing. I know I might be going overboard with compliments, but you guys deserve it. The set could use some work, but every show has it's flaws. Other than that, this production is perfect. All of you who think that this sucks, you need to start opening up your minds, because no matter what, there's always going to be remakes of a show. No matter how much you like it or not, there always will be, and there's nothing you can do to change that. Insulting these amazing and talented people aren't going to affect them, because trust me, they really won't care. They're doing what they love, and that's what counts. Anyway, you guys are overall just amazing. I want to be an actress really bad, and you're a great example to follow. Keep up the amazing work!

Yes, it's not the original and could do with some polishing in places but this is a damn solid performance! Veronica has a great voice, the ensemble is strong, and Heather Chandler reminds me of Violet Chachki. It is, indeed, beautiful. EDIT: Also, I love how Chandler is staring daggers into the back of Veronica's head for standing in front of her in the last chorus.

EDIT AND DISCLAIMER: June 2020 - i made this comment 3 years ago. It may not seem like a lot of time, but back then I wasn’t familiar with how theatre really worked and was so used to the off broadway cast. I’m still not a fan of the way some lines in this production were played out but it’s absolutely not my place to police how the actors portrayed their part. Additionally I had NO right to say how certain lines should be said. That is completely up to the director of the show and the actors playing the roles. I apologize to anyone involved in this production for being ignorant, I’ve been involved in theatre since then and am now much more educated. i’m going to keep my original comment up for context and to show that change in perspective is possible. educate rather than argue ❤️ - I love this veronica's singing voice, but it bothered me that sometimes she displayed the wrong emotion while delivering lines. Like when she stood up for martha, she acts scared when she's supposed to act unintimidated, and when she's talking about the Heathers, she sounds happy when she's supposed to sound mesmerized.

Who the heck is Hamilton? I've see it in the orginal cast where Vernonia gets scared because she's kind of day dreaming and Martha snaps her out of it catching her off guard, but I do agree with you they kind of changed the emotions of the characters. Like when Heather M says "What you need is a doctor" instead of "I think you need a doctor" it makes her sound a lot more judgemental instead of caring in the orginal. But hey it's for a good cause.

Imogen I totally agree that copies can be boring, but for me this show doesn't feel unique eighther. Because it's still too similar to the original but because of costumes and some changes in the text it's just more extrem. Veronica isn't an outsider because she has this status at her school but because she really look like one and the Hathers are sterotypical bitche (what they always meant to be, don't get me wrong) but because they often didn't act that extrem (and dump "I hate my doctor because he smells...") in the original, you could imagine that many people or you by yourself could be one of this girls. Instead of being unique this theater feels like a 0815 Hollywood clishemovie, where everyone has to be and look like the role they play in order to "make it easier for the viewer". It isn't different and it is still a copy for me, so I'm not a big fan of the changes. *BUT* first I didn't "hate" that show because I still enjoy it ^~^. I liked the actors their performance (the most time) and the singers (in my opinion they did a great job). I saw this work and I really like how they set it up (I liked the main part). Second you don't know why they changed some things. E.g. It could be that Veronica look like that because it is easier too dress her up that quick at stage and the Hather 2 act like that because in the rest of the show she isn't that important. OMG it is possible that someone didn't like the changes but didn't hate the entire show? Yes, yes it's possible and I think that the most haters feel the same but either are to lazy to think of more than "I hate this one thing, so I hate everything." Or get more angry when they see that there are people that agree with them (like this "why do everyone hate this?"-comments that were the first 3 or 6 comments I read before I found the first "I hate it" comment they are complaining about). That's not dump, it's natural but I'm glad if I can prevent just one person form being upset about something he normally wouldn't be upset about.

Guess that's because the OG "beautiful" is completely epic in many things, and all people comment on these things. Because when something is that great, you can always tell if it's just as great and fills you with the same glee, or it is actually weaker. Not worse. NEVER worse (except if it's actually very bad, but that's a separate thing) but weaker. Like you know, a third-place Olympic runner. He's still a champion, mind you, but he's a bit slower.

When people say “This actor didn’t really capture the character” it often really means “The actor didn’t interpret and deliver this line the way “OG actor” did. Characters are not set in stone: for example, Lin and Javi from Hamilton both play VERY different Hamiltons, and yet the character was still clearly the same. Lines can be delivered differently and still have the character remain recognizably them. This Veronica was AWESOME. I liked how she allowed the character to express more trepidation in a situation where she clearly should be, it was a nice interpretation of her. TL;DR: characters are able to be interpreted differently by each actor playing them and still be a good portrayal of the character.

Why are people complaining about the actors? They aren't the original, sure, but I love this performance. Sure they may not look as young, or sing the same way, but it's still good. i agree that this one is different, but i actually really liked it! i know a lot of people think that this veronica is really odd, but i mean, every actor is a different person. they all interpret the characters differently, and they all bring their own talents and ideas to the table. i think that making veronica really sweet in the beginning is a really cool choice, since you could play around a lot with her descent into a more messed-up version of herself post-chandler-death- i reckon it'd be really cool to see some of the later musical numbers from this production! i mean, don't get me wrong, barrett's version of veronica is absolutely fuckin phenomenal, but if everyone played her the exact same way then there'd be no point in watching videos like this where you get to see a whole new take on things. obviously not everything is perfect with this production, but that hardly ever happens anyway, and i reckon they did an amazing job considering the fact that they probably had a MUCH smaller budget than the original.

I think this suits Veronica more though. In the original musical, her character is all over the place. She comes off as a goof and cynical but then she sings about how the world is beautiful, and cares about people, and is happy to be a part of the Veronicas and gets scared of Ram when he gets in her face? A sweet and innocent Veronica better fits that persona in my opinion. The other Veronica is more suited for the movie rather than the soundtrack.

I am in love with all the singing voices (particularly the on-point Heather C. and effortlessly smooth Veronica)! I also think it's so cool you guys went for your own choreography. The acting of Venrica for my is a little off, but her singing certainly isn't. Absolutely loved this Heather C.'s interpretation of the "Okay?!", made me laugh out loud. Costumes are perfect as well.

Love the performance! I find it also fascinating, how quick Veronica has to change her clothes - in under a minute. Sure, some stuff she is wearing under the first costume - but shoes, hairbow, blazer, skirt in under a minute? I bet that looks easier than it is ( I wish I could get dressed that fast in the morning...)

After seeing Barrett Wilbert Weed's performance, nothing compares. This Veronica is great, objectively, but if you've seen Weed's delivery, this Veronica sounds way less cynical and her voice is a little too high. Same goes for H. Chandler, she just pales in comparison.

i thought that the overall production was good, but i feel like the lines were delivered with a different tone. Like when Veronica's talking to Martha, she sounds annoyed when originally she was joking with her friend. idk, it just gives Veronica this sass she didn't have before and makes her character seem much meaner. obviously it's not going to be like the original, and the actors will put their own twist on things, but it made me not like veronica (the character) as much
