I have had some experience of those Chinese single cylinder diesel engines, and I would recommend that to reduce the likely hood of balance shaft bearing failure you replace the factory fitted caged bearings with high quality maximum fill bearings. There are two balance shafts with a bearing at each end and the factory fitted caged bearings are prone to failure with catastrophic results.

Thank you very much for your comment. This particular engine is an SD model and only has 1 balancing shaft. I agree to replace the bearings. Otherwise these are very good engines. Do you have a youtube channel with engines?

SAME FOR HOSES AND FILTERS. YOU MAY NEED SEVERAL FILTERS IN AN EMERGENCY BECAUSE FUEL WHEN AVAILABLE MAY BE CONTAMINATED. A FUEL AND WATER SEPARATOR WOULD BE HELPFUL.

Thank you! It depends on the gear ratio. If your alternator has a 150mm pulley and you want your generator to run at 1500rpm, then your engine will reach 1500rpm, if its pulley is also 150mm.

ZS engines don't have lub oil filters, so I can explain how to fit one and that should be the first thing before you complete the generator. We've built a ton of generators before and I believe my tips would be usefull 🙂

I was just lucky enough to find a brand new engine that was being sold for parts, because it was illegal to sell as a running engine. Beautiful job, I like your custom alternator mount. Everything looks well engineered, I was happy you showed the electric radiator fan come on. Nice layout too, your engine fit perfectly on the frame. I do like the belt drive, I'd thought about direct coupling but you can get exactly the right RPM for both the pump and the engine. Are the wheels cast iron?

These engines are the best single cylinder diesels. Direct injection, pressure lubrication, automotive oil filter, water cooled. Huge bearings and relatively low rpm. They last for several thousands engine hours before an overhaul.

By the way, I looked for fun at what it costs to get a diesel from China to the Netherlands.Dutch customs clearance is 20%, but on top of that the shipping costs...... really amazing . The Chinese have filled the European warehouse with stuff because the introduction of VAT on Chinese stuff was coming. And imports from a European warehouse have to be paid mutch less for in terms of transport.Buth no diesels, only cheap petrol engines. Why a diesel? Because you can get fuel for it that is not only much cheaper than petrol (here just over 2 euros per liter) and the best petrol 2.29 euros per liter .....Bwaaaaa) but you can also store it infinitely as you buy the right one (called blue diesel here). If you are a prepper, this is of course important ( i am not realy buth a little) t. And in an emergency, do you use cooking oil because that also seems to work very well, or used motor oil?A man on the internet claims his engine has been running without any problems for 5 years with it Greetings from Holland
