hi lauren, always change the filter first because a cup of dirty oil stored in the filter housing to prevent dry starts of engine. once u open the filter cap a release valve opens letting dirty oil flow into pan. next time drain the oil and after oil stops running then open your filter and see for yourself. awesome video

Many years ago my 2001 Mercedes C320 V6 ran from 12,000-19,000 miles between oil changes. Based on its own Mercedes oil analysis and always being ran on Mobil 1 0w40. That was on almost 200,000 miles and ran perfect - all original (except a mass air flow sensor) before being hit by an uninsured driver. Surprised the newer ones have only 10k intervals.

10000 mile oil change not recommended if you don’t check your oil. Most vehicles burn some oil and the level can become low and cause damage or increase engine wear and also have issues running because oil is used in some vvt engines to change parameters and low oil can mess this up. I found this to be true on a vehicle I owned then gave to my son who was talked into those 10000 mile oil changes caused the engine oil to go low enough to cause the issue I mentioned above. I change the oil between 3000 to 5000. This situation was corrected by going back to 5000 mile engine oil changes.luckily there was no damage because the vehicle shut itself down .

As long as it not a 4matic, they don't have a drain plug...you have to pump it out thru the dipstick tube

What no one ever says in these videos about the Mercedes filter change, is ensure that the large O-ring is in the correct slot which is right before the last groove. I’ve only seen one one instructional mention this cautionary step...failure to do so could be catastrophic.

Wow that is one great looking mechanic. Next time you change the oil try a little experiment. Leave the drain plug out of the oil pan after your oil is fully drained, open your oil filter cap and quickly watch the dirty oil from the filter begin to drain from the pan hole. This is to keep oil pressure to engine on start up or you would burn the engine out quick from loss of oil pressue.

Ok...video review. Good video overall. 5 O-rings in the package for the new oil filter, but only 3 O-rings replaced on my filter cap housing. Explain the 2 extra ones. Yours were laid out but I saw you only use 3 as well. High Quality oil filter would not be FRAM in my opinion. My oil drain plug on my 2009 C300 was not on the pan itself but just aft and slightly above the side of the pan on the metal/aluminum housing where the pan is bolted to. Some cars are different so it would be nice if that was explained for others with the same issue.

Bob Bielski if you have a screw on metal filter and it's on the right angle so the oil doesn't run out putting oil in the filter is ok. Don't pour the oil in the center hole. Pour the oil in the holes around the edge. Don't forget to put new oil around the seal.

Good job . I taught my 22 yrs to change oil on her Cadillac CTS and now she change oil her self and also she change oil on my Benz and her Mom's Acura MDX too. Save money this way since I can't do due to my disability . I don't really trust the shop. My ? ???? : Why don't you use oem stuffs for your Benz ? And now they have oil for European cars Mobile 1.

I used 10w30 from tractor supply @36dollars for 5 gallons of oil . Walmart has synthetic oil for @ 50 for 5 gallons . Bulk is cheaper if u can
