That watch pendant is gorgeous! I really like the French doll. The iron and gold Japanese vase looks dry expensive.

I'm glad you enjoyed those pieces! 😊 The watch pendant, French doll, and the iron and gold Japanese vase are all beautiful and unique items. Each one has its own charm and history. Do you have a favorite among them, or perhaps another type of antique that you particularly love?

Opal is such a unique and captivating gemstone, and combining it with a classic Rolex watch makes for a truly special piece. Do you have a favorite type of opal or any other gemstone you particularly love?

It's fantastic to hear you found the gold and iron vase so impressive! 😊 The value of such unique pieces can be influenced by various factors, but it's understandable to feel that some items are undervalued given their craftsmanship and beauty. Is there a specific feature or detail of the vase that you found particularly striking?

item 12: At the base of the base is a triangle. I know I'm old but to my old eyes it was a square with 4 sides not 3

I get annoyed at the small amounts some of these magnificent works of art are worth nowadays

I get annoyed by something from Hollywood being worth thousands of dollars and a rare historical item or something 500 years old being worth a fraction of something from Hollywood. John Wayne underwear 100K , a letter from George Washington 5K. I’m joking to make a point.

I understand how that can be frustrating, especially when you see the craftsmanship and history behind certain pieces. It's a reminder of how subjective value can be, influenced by factors like demand, condition, and current market trends. Is there a particular piece or type of art that you feel deserves more recognition or value?

Fashion trends dictate highly the prices, exquisite Victorian jewellery fetching low prices compared to simple art deco pieces due to this factor and same goes with other items.

Some very interesting pieces here. A shame that a couple are totally incorrectly narrated, namely a pencil portrait, shown as giant Easter egg moulds (?!?!) and the value of one narrated as “Four to five hundred dollars” but incorrectly underscored as “$4,500”. How do these errors pass muster!?!?

Too bad the narration for the Hilary Kay clip was about something else altogether. The molds were fascinating, and hilary kay is one of my favourite experts on the British Antiques Roadshow. I also much prefer the British Antiques Roadshow to the American one: its experts are so charismatic and fun to watch.

@@Antique_TreasureHuntTwo, going way back. One was a clock made out of bone, fabricated by Napoleonic prisoners of war held in camps. I think David Payne was the expert for that. Another was a miniature model of a garden made out of painted cast iron, as I recall. Hilary Kay might have been the expert for that too.
