Thanks for the clip. It was a great show at the Silverdome in '76. 56k there and the next night, back to reality in Chicago for 15k.

Saw Bob with the Silver Bullet Band 4 times from 79-83. THE hardest working rock n roll band I ever saw during that time. No fancy costumes, lasers or light shows...they just strapped it on and played like it was their last night on Earth. Thank you Bob Seger, Drew Abbott, Alto Reed, Chris Campbell, Charlie Martin (and later Don Brewer on drums) & Robyn Robbins for never taking it for granted.

He wants to dream like a young man With the wisdom of an old man He wants his home and security He wants to live like a sailor at sea Beautiful loser, where you gonna fall? You realize you just can't have it all He's your oldest and your best friend If you need him, he'll be there again He's always willing to be second best A perfect lodger, a perfect guest Beautiful loser, read it on the wall And realize, you just can't have it all You can't have it all, you can't have it all Oh, oh, can't have it all He'll never make any enemies He won't complain if he's caught in a freeze He'll always ask, he'll always say please Beautiful loser, never take it all 'Cause it's easier, faster when you fall You just don't need it all Oh, oh, you just don't need it all

This is a brilliant song. It is crazy that someone could write and sing lyrics in such a way. I definitely like the live version more than the studio version.

This guy helped make life a lot more easier growing up in the 80's. He rocked and yes his lyrics are mind boggling in that anyone could write so perfect with so much meaning, so much feeling.

Faye Howard... Although we've never met, please accept my heartfelt condolences for such an unspeakable & painstaking loss. I don't know it the same of course, but I do know it, because I to have been through it & I'm not going to tell you any of the crap you've already heard, yes, people mean well but if you haven't yourself lived it, you can never even begin to know it. The pain never goes away, we just adjust to living with it. Consider yourself hugged. God bless you.

First time I saw Seger was 1976. It is such a shame that there doesn't seem to be any sustantial footage from the seventies or early eighties that could be released. In his prime, he was the most energetic entertainer around - he gave the audience 150% of himself. Sad to think all that might be lost to just memory.

I love rap, especially oldschool. But it has never made my hair stand up. Like this does the moment the poignant guitar begins. How can sadness be so beautiful?

@SLObeachman I'll second that. I saw Live Bullet tour in Bay City, Mi, and he had whole crowd into it with 100% participation - singing, dancing, sweating, and rocking. I've seen Aerosmith, Floyd, Nugent, Stones, Clapton, Trower, ZZ, REO, Styx, and more, but Seger and Silver Bullet stand out as best show I've ever seen.

@MrGoodtimesbadtimes Seger is good, but kind of mellow. You have your opinion & are entitled to it, but I saw the original, young, Van Halen in 1981 for their "Fair Warning" tour, & they rocked Boston Garden unlike anyone before or since. Sadly it was a slow descent into mediocrity after that year, but the insane guitar playing of Eddie, the vocals & gymnastics of David Lee Roth, etc. Van Halen was amazing. They were so young and the energy they had onstage was off the chart
