Well folks, I've been watching you for quite a while and haven't commented before....I just have to add a comment to this episode. Fermanagh is my home county and I was born in Enniskillen. So sorry you had so much rain in Northern Ireland but you have portrayed the Lough Erne to it's best advantage - those photos of the 'grey' monotone waters and islands are wonderful. Really enjoyed the Norwegian trip - have travelled there with the caravan and it was a great trip - now you have to do Sweden and Finland....but the mozzies are dreadful. Thanks for sharing.

@@LifeistooshortCK Oh just a thought not sure of your plans but 2 place come to my mind that is well worth a look , the small village of Adare it is beautiful also a walk around Adare Manor i stayed there a few years ago, also the Burren its amazing . One other tip that came from a friend of mine he was saying that the Ring of Kerry can be really busy almost at a stand still go at first light , also he told me to tell you to do the drive to Slea Head its is also amazing . Last but not least go to a place called Annascaul visit the pub called The South Pole Inn, Google Tom Crean also on youtube there is the Tom Crean story he was Ireland unsung Hero . All the best.

Shaun Mckenna love all these suggestions - I second them all. The Beara Peninsula drive and a the Dingle Peninsula drive (West Cork) are particularly beautiful especially if the weather OK. The Burren is amazing especially if you read up on its unique aspects. Doolin Cave is worth a visit to see Europe’s longest Stalactite.... Tom Creans Pub is worth a visit just for the sheer history 👍🏻❤️🇮🇪

(from Canada) we visit the Enniskillen Castle Museum and enjoyed it very much. We were staying at a B&B near Donegal for 5 nights and did day trips from there as we had a car rental. It was odd crossing from the Republic of Ireland to Northern Island, as the only way you could tell was the speed limit signs changed from kmph to mph. We found it strange that our car rental did not have dual speedo to cover this change.

Love how you folks handle everything with humor! :D Full of action your adventures are! I was wondering again about the meal-budget in sweet Éire if one manages to make the breakies and the dinner herself but wants to eat lunch at a nice restaurant. Talking about 4-5 days as a start, in Dublin and its surroundings. What are your thoughts on that? bear hugs, Kata
@LifeistooshortCK4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Kata. On our Ireland trip we spent about £75 a week on food for the two of us buying in supermarkets and cooking cheap meals with the occasional takeaway pizza or Chinese meal. We didn’t eat in any restaurants because of covid but had one room service meal in a hotel which was £38 for food with no drinks. Dublin would probably be more expensive for eating out than in smaller towns.
@assassinjane4 жыл бұрын
@@LifeistooshortCK Thank you for the answer! I won't have the opportunity to cook in a van, and chances are high sadly that I am not going until this Covid-situation gets better (lower risk and restrictions - maybe re-open the restaurants). I got a voucher from my hotel in Dublin which is valid until 2025 but I hope I won't have to wait that long! :)

Ok well if you are using that car park stay near the entrance and away from the far end by the Abbey. The boy racers play up at the Abbey end. The Irish van that was allowed to move by the wardens without a ticket didn’t hear them at that end. 👍

Ken, will you give us some information about the electric in your van (watts of your solar panel). We are watching now your vlog about your trip to Spain earlier this year.
@LifeistooshortCK4 жыл бұрын
Power We have a small solar panel on the roof of the van which charges a 100 amp hour lithium leisure battery. This battery is also charged by the engine when running. This powers 4 usb sockets, 2 12v sockets, the fridge (continuously) and one of those 12volt sockets can power a 300 watt inverter if needed. That gives 300 watts of mains power. Lithium is expensive but in my view worth it because it gives peace of mind. We have never even come close to running out of power. Lithium batteries can absorb huge quantities of power quickly so every drop of power goes back into the battery. You can also safely use 80% of a Lithium battery in comparison to 50% of a normal lead acid one. Lead acid is very much cheaper though so it’s swings and roundabouts. As to how long can we last off grid that’s depends on diesel, the sun, water and food. In our experience water and food is the limitation. Our engine is a generator that can quickly recharge our battery. Lead acid batteries can quickly recharge to 80% but that final 20% is very slow to top off so we have noticed a few vloggers really struggling to fill their battery again during the day. Some people have fitted lithium and the batteries have failed. One possible cause is the heavy use of inverters to convert 12v to mains electric. Best advice is to avoid that by using 12v products if you can. USB items are perfect as they only use 5v
@hanspronk27494 жыл бұрын
Thanx Ken. Final question: what kind of ridge monkey do you use. We are very font of the way you precaire the meals and breakfast. Seen all your vlogs about spain and started on the vlogs of the outer Hebredes. Compliments so far.
