I agree, 1977 live version in Oakland. Look at how many people are there during a time when Social Media didn’t exist. Lynyrd Skynyrd were rock stars, unlike a lot of the cookie cutter stuff you see today. The guitar solo represents the free bird taking flight. Allen Collins (lead guitar) wrote that guitar solo when he was 16 years old not knowing a couple years later Ronnie VanZant would write the lyrics that made one of the greatest rock songs of all time FREE BIRD.

The Oakland concert was the last concert I went to before leaving for Navy boot camp. It was a great day what I remember of it, was kind of toasted as was the whole audience and the band. The 70's were a great time to be a teenager and early 20's and the Bay Area back then was a great place to be.

It’s most definitely a beautiful thing, although I’ll defend the other end of the spectrum by saying some of the best music ever made has been behind the computer

Thank you kindly for reacting to Lynyrd Skynyrd. The live performance at the Oakland Coliseum on July 2nd 1977 was one for the books. I highly recommend it. 'Skynyrd has an extraordinary library of music. Just a few suggestions. "Simple Man" "Gimme Three Steps" "Sweet Home Alabama" and I could keep on going. Peace Out.

All due respect, the audio and quality of Oakland was inferior to the studio. But the chicks were hot! ✌️♥️
@wesalker34795 ай бұрын
@@johnathanstruble1064 it's not about the audio quality . . . . . it's about the WHOLE experience of a live performance, warts and all. That's what makes it superior. Studio versions are acoustically sterile in their "perfection". ALSO . . . MOST of those chicks are great grandmothers now.

Great to see you appreciating all types of music !!! It’s good to be open and try other genres. I love all kinds of music. Grew up with this , 80’s music like U2 , rap like whodini , then on to Michael Jackson with the pop music and into funk with Morris day and the time. I love being versatile and it’s super cool to see a young cat like yourself broadening your music knowledge ! Keep doing your thing man !

If you like this sound, it's Southern Rock. The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Outlaws, etc are all Southern Rock (which is rock with a heavy emphasis on the Blues, it has that Muscle Shoals feel). Other Blues can be found in what may be the greatest rock band to ever exist and that is Led Zeppelin. "Since I've Been Loving You" and When the Levy Breaks" are definitely Blues.

Have you listened to any Steely Dan yet? They're a great band that blends elements of rock, jazz, Latin music, R&B, blues with sophisticated studio production and cryptic and ironic lyrics. They're also known for their technical proficiency. *Reelin in the Years* is one of their better known songs and has some great guitar work. To be fair, it's hard to go wrong with any of their songs.
