@@mrtibbz10 I wouldn't say at the time of this gig they had a cult following because I remember seeing the teeny boppers in oasis t shirts and Adidas gazzelles(everyone wore them in the height of britpop me included) them and blur literally had the whole country listening but the teeny boppers left after the be here now album and got into all saints or something, that left a huge loyal following but they never bettered the impact they made between 94/97 they were no way the biggest band in the world but they was the biggest band in Britain for sure sadly the other group that was on there level sales wise was the spice girls, the 90s though you can't beat them I'm glad I was just old enough to get involved, I was a rap fan and into jungle music (a form of dance which spawned drum n bass) but as soon as I heard live forever and roll with it I did wat every kid did wen they change there taste in music and didguarded all my rap and jungle tapes, scruffed my hair like damon albarn, and bought anything that was indie at the time, then obviously a few years later wen I realised I dident have to listen to one genra of music regretted fucking of my hip hop collection, anyway I wish there was a scene like that again for kids into guitar music to feel apart of, britpop was certainly no mod movement or punk or as important as ska but it was good enough for me to have a head full of memories a heap of music I still listen too and them songs that wen u hear them your taken right back to that moment, the first time u kissed someone or tje first time u got high, anyway its been such a pleasure watching you guys getting into oasis and hopefully it's proved some of my fellow dick head countrymen that Americans don't get oasis cos that really does annoy me, take care oh check out the sherlocks there an amazing indie band inspired by oasis (they don't sound like them though) bless up my breddas 👊✌️

You should definitely consider Cliffs Pavilion 1995 for streaming a whole show. Lots of fans will testify to that as a gig where the performance, set list etc came together extremely well. It captures early Oasis perfectly IMO. It has a smaller venue feel where the crowd is packed close together, having the time of their lives.

Nowadays, if you wanted to see Oasis in a theatre, you'd have to come to America, & specifically, the Midwest! Cuz on the East Coast, they sell out Madison Square Garden in NYC, & the GMU Patriot Center in D. C, on the regular. And the West Coast, the Hollywood Bowl, the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, & the Greek Theatre. Hell, they've also sold out both the Rosemont Horizon & the Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago, as well! So if they do ever reform... The shows will be huge in America, too!

@thegirlwithxrayeyes2149
@thegirlwithxrayeyes2149 3 жыл бұрын
Exactly! She's Electric does have that Beatle-y sound, but most of their songs didn't. I think it's a lazy way to dismiss Oasis and the unique sound they had. I love the Beatles too, and am very familiar with their music and Oasis too, and I just don't hear Oasis sounding like a watered down Beatles, which is what most non-fans will say. And harmonizing wasn't just a Beatles thing. Many bands harmonized. In fact, the Beach Boys were more well known for that than the Beatles ever were. Harmonizing isn't something that one band owns.

Agree with a lot of people on here ,seeing you guys react to these oasis songs is amazing .a lot of us from Britain it’s are culture. I listened to the Beatles at 15 and fell in love with them. Started listening to oasis at 16 and from there everything changed, the way I walked the way I talked the way I dressed. Bands like oasis , when you meet people who like them to you have a instant connection of banter and a way of life. P.s funny you should mention the verve. Noel Gallagher dedicated “cast no shadow” to Richard Ashcroft because Richard Ashcroft dedicated “Northern soul” to Noel Gallagher. 1997 oasis and the verve ruled Britain! keep the faith ✌️

Cast no shadow was released in 1995. Bitter sweet symphony was released in 1997. So it is literally impossible for oasis to be influenced by that song in particular. However Oasis and The Verve were friends and toured together right from the start! The Verve started working on their album "a northern soul" in late 1994 and it was released in september 1995, a month prior the release of Whats the story morning glory. Being so close its safe to say that Oasis heard the verve's album before the recording. Richard Ashcroft dedicated "a northern soul" a track out of the album of the same name to Noel Gallagher. And there's this song which was a single called "History" on that same album that has a string section in it that might have influenced Cast no Shadow. Liam Gallagher performs clapping on that tune. Noel has stated that he wanted Cast No Shadow to sound like pink floyd but failed miserably. Despite that, after he wrote the song he said that the lyrics reminded him of Richard Ashcroft, who they rated as a missunderstood genius at the time. (and they got that one right cause in 1997 The Verve would release "Hurban Hymns" one of the best british albums of all time) Noel stated that the lyrics "bound with all the weight of all the words he tried to say" reminded him of Richard and how he was always trying to say the right things in the wrong way. He stated too that for one to cast no shadow they must be invisible. Noel dedicated Cast no Shadow to Richard Ashcroft as the lyrics of the song not only reflected what he thought of Richard but also the to return the favor he did to him in "a northern soul". Also Owen Morris produced both albums and tracks for both bands which explains why Cast no Shadow may sound a bit like The Verve's History in the string arrangement. You should start reacting to The Verve especially that Glastonbury 07 performance..it was astonishing. History is an amazing track. As for Oasis i would suggest Rock n Roll Star live by the sea 4 example which is an amazing gig. Its one of their best songs so you'll probably get to that one next. KEEP'EM COMING MADFERIT BIBLICAL

The maine road gigs are easily the best Oasis gigs, specially the 2nd night was fucking epic. Fun fact Liam stole that blue umbro tracksuit that he is dressed in on the 2nd night from the Manchester city locker rooms.

Oasis and the Verve go way back to the early 90's when rehearsing in Manchester. Noel actually dedicated cast no shadow to Richard Ashcroft. Noel freely admitted that Cast No Shadow was about Richard Ashcroft, frontman with Greater Manchester own epic guitar collective The Verve. Oasis had supported the band (when they were known simply as Verve) as far back as December 1993

The lyrics of the Chorus of this song are "as they took his soul they stole his pride" written by Noel Gallagher.

Cast no shadow wasn’t written for Richard Ashcroft from the verve it was dedicated to him due to his band splitting up at the time, struggling with drug addiction etc so Noel tried to big him up by dedicating the song to him 💚

Liam was young then. Listen to him singing Oasis now and his own stuff, it's amazing. Btw The Verve was not ripped from Oasis, bad call!!

Ironically, Noel dedicated this song to Richard Ashcroft, the leader of The Verve.
