I’m a residential contractor and It surprises me that the underground, bermed, and single story dome style homes aren’t more prevalent. There are many advantages to these designs. -wind and weather have very little affect on them. -almost immune to earthquakes, they shake but rarely break. -the materials they’re constructed of, for the most part, aren’t flammable. -very little problems with insects such as ants or termites. The list goes on …..

So awesome! I wonder why people in tornado alley don’t build their homes underground.

Tornadoes often brings heavy rain and flooding. Local building codes won't allow underground homes

There are earth sheltered homes in Oklahoma. It is allowed. As long as codes are adhered to. They still have trailer parks in tornado alley.

Kinda turned off from the video by the narrator obsessively calling everything "hobbit home". I get it, but seriously that refers to a very distinct style not every house with a little dirt on it.

I didn't finish the video bc it was off-putting to look at one thing while you're describing another. Also, didn't consider something well over $600,000 "cheap."

I agree, $680k is not cheap.

At first, it appears that every home is for sale, but in some of the descriptions, it sounds like they were recreational rentals.

Ask the lenders. Most of the time, banks won't touch financing a "non-traditional" home, no matter how well engineered. They don't believe they'll have resale value.

@@gregpeabody8536 Aye. Good point. Hmm… Venture Capital or DeFi might be alternative options
