Hi Shelley I am 52 and had my very last period at 45. I have a very complicated gynae history of severe endometriosis and multiple bouts of fibroids with several surgeries. I was so glad to see them gone😂. Due to the thinking back then I had to wait a full year past my last period to try a lower dose of HRT continuously (to allow the endometriosis to become inactive and "die off"). Last appointment with Consultant gynaecologist is that I have to stay on HRT for life (thank you thank you) with a mirena coil and oestrogen patch. Recent research shows my increased risks of gynae cancers from the endometriosis is for lifelong HRT as a prevention. I had to do menopause naturally and it was miserable. I wish they had known back then what they know now as I didn't have to wait it turns out😢. However future women with similar issues won't have to do it naturally if they don't want to. It's a decision based on our own family history and medical issues obviously, so it isn't suitable for everyone. I can't say that it is miraculous but perhaps it would have been during the actual perimenopause😂. See how you get on but expect some fluctuations after being on the pill for thirty plus years even without the perimenopause. Best wishes x

I use Curology too, and they changed my formula as well. I received my new bottle, but I'm not quite done with my current one yet. I'm excited to try my new formula. They changed my formula to include dexpanthenol 1%. This is what they said to me: "This HydroTret Rx formula (part of Future-Proof Rx) blends tretinoin with hydrating ProVitamin B5 (dexpanthenol), and is designed to help boost hydration, smooth fine lines, brighten dark spots, refine skin texture, and support the skin barrier." xoxo to you and kitties (your mom too!)

Love these videos!! I think it was Penn Smith who shared the bifida product. I think for the curology, the only reason to switch to agency is if you wanted to add that second product they offer, it’s for age spots I believe (think it’s hydroquinone). I’m pretty sure I already told you but I think you’ll love the Scinic sunscreen (teal and white tube). It looks basics but it has great filters and for an Asian sunscreen that’s elegant it holds up well when in the heat which is surprising. It’s great under makeup too. I’ve put the no 7 product on my list to try!

Hi Shelly; I am on a no/low spend journey after doing a purge and organization of my skincare and makeup (and also for feeling guilty if I throw something out that’s not empty). I'm trying to be sure I use up what I have and find it's hard with all the "influencing" out there, getting starstruck by beautiful packaging and products promising me that my sunspots will disappear and my neck will get firmer! When I did an organize of my products I realized I should be good for at least 7-8 months! lol Now that I’m better organized and aware of what I have, I'm committed to not purchasing new products unless I'm completely out of a type of product (moisturizer, cleanser, foundation, what-have-you). I also try hard to wash things out well and then take them to Ulta to recycle but unfortunately some types of containers, like squeeze tubes, make that very difficult. I'm very interested in more sustainable brands like Pacifica Beauty, etc. who consistently use PCR in their packaging, use glass (even though you it’s more breakable), and make it easier for the consumer to recycle. As for what I’ve enjoyed/not enjoyed, I’m on the fence about the RMS beauty face oil - I got a small sample and enjoyed it but it’s very pricey. I probably won’t (sadly), repurchase the Tower 28 mascara - I enjoyed the formula but within a few hours it had smudged under my eyes (and that’s the top lashes - I never put mascara on my bottom lashes). I also felt like the mascara dried out too quickly. When I was cleaning out the tube, so much was coming out that never got used because it was getting dry and crusty. I do enjoy the Pacifica Beauty retinoid night cream made with mushrooms - I find my skin softer and my fine lines on my forehead are almost gone, in the mornings.
@goow19 сағат бұрын
I need to grab some of the new Pacifica stuff. I tend to have pretty good luck with them and like you said, they have a good approach to sustainability.

As I tell my students, you eating it doesn’t magically give the calories and nutrients to someone else. But more importantly, cleaning your plate teaches you to ignore your body. My 13 year old has always stopped eating as soon as they are full. When they were little they’d say they didn’t like their food anymore 😂

Shelly a makeup artist I ran into mentioned wearing a tinted primer instead of foundation for those of us mature skin gals Have you ever tried that?? She even said it would work as a one and done, no concealer ❤

I’m having some major guilt over wanting to toss the Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Bakuchiol Eye Cream. I’m not quite halfway through and have noticed it’s so drying under my eyes. It makes new lines appear and causes the wrinkles to look even deeper. But I grew up up in the same kind of family, I hate being wasteful!

Before you repurchase the Skin 1004, get a hold of the new Beauty of Joseon one - Relief Sun Aqua Fresh Rice + B5. I think you will enjoy it a lot more. Just started HRT myself and highly recommend you read The New Menopause by Dr Marie Claire Haver. I've only been on HRT for about 3-4 weeks and it is amazing! Don't suffer if you don't have to.
@goowКүн бұрын
I've got the Beauty of Joseon one on the way! I've heard great things about it. Oooh will check out that book too. I feel blindsided that nobody freaking talks about ANY of this!! And my mom says she didn't really struggle with menopause so I hoped I'd inherit that, but so far it does not seem so.
@amandaf5664Күн бұрын
@@goow Angie at Hot n Flashy had Dr Marie Claire Haver on her channel recently talking about it, that's how I heard about the book. I knew that I was perimenopausal but what I didn't know was how many symptoms I was actually suffering from and her book helped identify that. Armed with the book, went in to see my doctor and came out with patches (estrodial), pills (progesterone) and cream (estriol - which, you can use on your face as well as your bits)! It's good that your doctor is being proactive with you as many do not want to talk about it and just brush it off as "well, it's just age". Like I said, you do not have to suffer.

Many people are afraid of HRT because of the study that came out about 20 years ago (I think) that said it was bad. According to my doctor, there were many problems with that study. So he prescribes it if patients have symptoms and want it.
@amandaf5664Күн бұрын
@@20thcenturyrelic I was one of those people too till I watched the video I mentioned with Angie and then I read the book which goes into more depth about that study. That along with some of the lessons I have picked up with skin care studies that have been done about various ingredients. The media picked out something of that research and ran with it without properly understanding it. Woman's health is underfunded and under researched but things are beginning to see light just how estrogen and lack thereof affects the body and aging process. Highly recommend the book, very insightful.

I switched to Agency because the Curology formula dried out my skin too much no matter how much they changed it around. Agency doesn't, for whatever strange reason. :shrug: Skin care chemistry is weird.
@goowКүн бұрын
That's the name I couldn't think of - Agency! I'll be interested to see if my new formula is better or worse. They swapped the azelaic acid for niacinamide and I really liked the azelaic acid. Not that I don't like niacinamide but I think I get enough of it from other products.

So I'm going to England and Ireland this summer - what are the best Euro sunscreens to get?
@goow19 сағат бұрын
My ride or die is the No7 Future Renew SPF day cream (the Euro version, which has different sunscreen actives than the US version). The other one I always grab is La Roche-Posay Anthelios UVMUNE 400 Invisible Fluid SPF50. It's a bit high on alcohol content but is a balanced formula that doesn't dry me out.

The worst part for me was the hot and cold flashes. Yes, cold flashes are a thing although I think less common than hot flashes. Other than that, I was already overweight but haven't gained weight. No mood swings, or, if I had them, I didn't recognize them as such. I've been on HRT for several years. We have no history of breast or uterine cancer in the family, so I intend to stay on it as long as my doctor will prescribe it.
