What a great channel. Every kid in your town should be shown your place as a field trip history lesson. The town should pay you for such an experience. I'm sure at least one kid would be touched. Please don't stop.

Jerry, you have mastered restoring your cabin, in keeping with our ancestors. Brilliant job! Some of your restorations would fit right in with Sturbridge Village in MA. If you never have visited, it is worth it! Sturbridge is an entire colonial village, restored and actively functioning. I watched flour being milled between those giant round stones, fireplace hearth cooking and so much more.

Fantastic Mill. Maybe you'll build a shed over the top? On milled storage, in UK we were always taught to store wood milled indoors, if it was to be made into furniture/floors, so it adjusted to indoor temperatures before building. Keep going, it's very impressive. Loved the Wren videos too.

Every log is different. Each have their own stories. Beautiful work on the floor, great idea. This is more authentic to me.

I saw your Facebook posts with the mill that led me to look into one and I bought one too. Very happy with mine too. The freedom to cut and size piece of wood is so nice. Thank you sir for turning to KZbin so we get to see more of your little cabin

OMG, wow! I was just looking at your other videos thinking, I wish he had an old style floor, like my grandma's house, instead of the plywood floor...and you put it in! Love it!

Hello Jerry! I just started watching your channel and the one video that caught my eye was the fireplace build. Absolute awesome work on the fireplace! After subscribing and watching more videos, I noticed your from Lisbon Ohio. I myself live just north of you in Berlin Center Ohio. I cannot believe what a small world we live in. Anyway, excellent job on the log cabin build. Keep up the great work!

Nice job. Cabin looks great. I have a woodland mills hm126 and love it although I don’t think it can handle that big a log lol.

When we bought our farm about 20 plus years ago it was in rough shape especially the barn but the kitchen had the exact same floors you have in yours and our fireplace is almost identical with the stove on one side and a bar on the other it was built in the 1800’s. We have since redone the whole kitchen we left the floors alone we have done the whole house over and the barn as well had to jack up the barn it was a massive undertaking but really fun project at the same time. A local carpenter and I did all the work your place looks awesome keep up the good work

yup, my 1780 built house had a floor like yours. it used what was called "Kings Wood" which was wood reserved for the king to do with what they wanted. our town rioted against this called the Pine Tree riots. I had some really wide boards and also some thinner boards like you did. So historically accurate though my floors were not scared up like yours they were all smooth. Good work!

Great work. Absolutely beautiful. I make beams and boards by hand and when I look at all the different features of the wood I remember the whole story from the fork in the tree to the mushroom that sprouted out of it in the yard to the hill the tree grew on.
