I’ve stopped buying drugstore makeup for the most part. I still buy things like mascaras and eyebrow products, etc. but I used to feel like it was more stuff to try and it was more affordable, but it honestly just doesn’t bring me as much joy lol. I know a lot of it is superficial, but “nicer” makeup and packaging makes my heart happy!!

Idk why everyone is obsessed with fake lashes. There are such great mascaras these days that make the lashes look so good. I actually prefer when KZbinrs don't do fake lashes. To me fake lashes are meant for special occasions only. I would only ever wear them to let's say a wedding or something but other than that never. Idk how done people wear them every time they do makeup. It's absurd.

I used to do that, then I realized that the "perfect" thing as I've imagined it in my head does not exist. Figuring out what is possible for makeup to do and what isn't really possible helped me be a lot more satisfied with what is in my stash.

I don’t buy eyeliner at all, even black. I have plenty of eyeshadow palettes that have black & brown shades on top of the colored shades that I use as liner. I will not need to buy eyeliner for a good 10 yrs plus just by using my eyeshadows this way.

Some things I quit buying are: - full coverage foundation - back ups - makeup wipes - liquid eyeliner - liquid lipstick - lipgloss - lip liner - big pallettes - powder highlighter - eyebrow pencils - cheap brushes (I always feel the need to upgrade cheap brushes so I feel good brushes are a good investment)

I still have my Morphe JHill OG palette from years ago! Big palettes are fun but then you're stuck with them for years. Also, I totally recommend the reusable Makeup Eraser that blew up years ago. I just use it with water and then I use a simple Cetaphil cleanser. I love these kinds of videos!

I definitely stepped away from large palettes too. 16 pan is the biggest I think I'll get. I also started duping new palettes with what I already have so I don't get something just to get it. I stopped buying makeup wipes too. I never used them on my face but I would use them to wipe off swatches. I also stopped buying face palettes. I tend to only use 2 shades max and the rest is almost wasted. I declutter a lot and try to keep my collection more curated. I've never had backups even if its a holy grail product I like to keep trying something else. I prefer mini size skin care for sure. I have very sensitive skin so if it's just a sample and I get a reaction I'm not stuck. I don't do subscription boxes either bc it's still kinda a mystery box but if I don't like the items then I'm stuck lol. Brush Sets are a guilty pleasure of mine. I use them all the time. I also rotate and clean. I do purchase higher quality brushes bc my cheaper ones didn't last as long. I was gifted a set with my name engraved and i ended up putting them in a shadow box and displaying it in my beauty room. 😂😂

I’m dying at all the people here saying they no longer buy full-size perfume bottles, because they don’t go through them...I’m at home full-time now and don’t go anywhere, and I’m still going through perfume like CRAZY. Now I’m starting to feel like one of those crazy, heavily-perfumed old ladies, lol. I LIVE for it. I love that a lot of channels are buying less makeup and only the things they really want to try. At the time were buying everything was the goal for most channels, I had a hard time feeling excited for new products because I felt like a lot of the reviews I came across about the product I was interested in, where rushed first impression type style, and then never hearing about that product again until a declutter video 2 years later where the product was just thrown out.

Face Pallets for sure. Lately thanks toTaylor Wynn I am picking up a few colored liners - blue, green and a brown is on my radar. It’s amazing what you can do on the lower lash line without shadows being so heavy. Also thanks to Taylor and her Glossier video I love those cloud paints and discovered other products that I was interested in. I always was a light coverage person and I am 46. Trying to support cardboard packages ie pallets but there are so few in that use cardboard packaging that catch my eye. Makeup wipes are a no. Finishing up what I have then I am done. This video was one of your best. I wish you or anyone would do a video on packaging products that are more recyclable ie cardboard packaging. Colour pop comes to mind and Juvia’s. I agree with you about the makeup wipes and how if even one person does a bunch of little different things that it can add up. And a bunch of ppl doing a bunch of little things can make a big difference. I think it's sad that I'm 35 and I remember being an elementary school and learning about the hole in the ozone layer and acid rain and the 3 R's (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!!) And all this time later and all we've done is ruin our planet more.

I really admire what you said about the waste of all the extra makeup. You get alot in PR and so its really redeeming that you are aware of what all your extra money could be used for. Some of these people on the you tube platform buy what seems like every single solitary new makeup release. Even with being able to afford it how much of this does one really need? I can't use everything i have in time so I've since stopped buying it. Ive been able to help others and even bought something I truly needed. Some of these people I dont think can stop. Some things I need backups...Cover FX Blurring primer because it is my holy grail and it was not sold anywhere for months. Boxycharm offered it in their Pop Up sale for very reduced price. I stocked up. I also need a backup for the Smashbox Cali Contour palette. I use it every day and had one fall and shatter. I will always have a backup. I also love Subscription boxes. I get 4. I normally love 70% for me, and the rest I save and do gift baskets for my daughter, cousin and aunt. Plus their sales to purchase, I always get what I buy anyway for minimum half price. I definitely save money due to them. I have a lot of nail polish and always have, but I have naturally long nails I have always done frequently. Big Blush Book #3...my biggest regret purchase. It was huge. I wasn't using. Finally depotted, kept a few I will use and passed others on.

I don't purchase liquid eyeliners as I have way way too many from subscription boxes, I don't purchase mascara but maybe once a year because I have way too many. I have even thrown out some that have dried out. I quit opening new ones that I received and they are in the new stuff drawer. I rarely buy makeup anymore, except two subscription boxes. I will occasionally purchase an eyeshadow palette or highlighter throughout the year. I don't purchase lipsticks either as I have way way too many. So I am with you on the purchasing of products not needed. I went crazy buying for a few years and now I am decluttering, throwing away or using up products.

About a year ago I too cancelled all my subscription boxes! I realized that I "could" live with out most of the items, and that it would be the same $$$ to just buy the products that I actually wanted instead. I still have mascara backups as I always run low at the most inconvenient time!!

I was subscribed to BoxyCharm for like.. 6 years and LOVED getting surprises in the mail every month but then I realized a lot of stuff was piling up and I never was using them.. All the good stuff I usually already had. Cancelled maybe 2 months ago and I haven’t regretted it AT ALL!
