I’m an excellent organizer. I would start with going through all that needs to be tossed out for expiration. Get the trash out first and gather everything that doesn’t belong in there. You only want to get a system after you know what you have left for that system.

Agree with a few people here….organize according to what it does. All toners, all serums, moisturizers, etc.

I’d organise by product category. And I gotta say I am IMPRESSED by your collection. You may be the first person I’ve seen who has a skincare collection that rivals or may even exceed my own 🖤

All the above are great recommendations. Maybe start slow, designate 15 minutes a day or do a box a day so you don’t get overwhelmed. I have a similar issue with organizing/getting rid of clothes. 😊

Yes! 1 - expired, throw out. 2 - organize by category, toners, serums, exfoliation, masks, moisturizers, sunscreens. 3 - organize each category, Toners - calming & soothing, hydrating, milky, etc. Serums, hydrating, anti-aging, brightening. Good luck & have fun with it. Many blessings!!!💖💖💖

Lots of great suggestions. I would also create a category for all your new in purchases, empties and items you want to keep if you need to show in videos.

I am so excited! I love organizing. I would go through everything and pile it up by category (cleansers, essence/toners, serums. moisturizers, eye creams, masks, body, SPF, etc.). While doing this, you can also start a donate/give to family/friends bin and a recycle/trash bin. Once that is complete, I put everything on a Google Sheet. I know, it sounds like a lot. And maybe it is. But it is so worth it. I personally have a tab for each category of product. On each tab I have a column for the item (brand + item name), the lot, lot date, purchase date, expiration date, size, and then a column for notes. I usually use the notes column to indicate whether a product is new or if I have already moved it into my bathroom drawer to be used next. Once I had all my products added to my spreadsheet, it was easy to sort the products by oldest to newest in bins. Of course, since you already have the spreadsheet, you can just chuck them in the correct bin and it won't really matter because you have a record of it. This makes it really easy to stay on top of what you have and also makes decluttering easier. For example, I decided recently that my formerly oily skin is now too dry for gel moisturizers. Since I knew that a friend of mine could use whatever gel moisturizers that I had in my stash, I was able to easily pull up my sheet and see what I had in inventory. Then I pulled what I wanted to give her and deleted those lines from inventory once pulled. And when I make new purchases, I set them aside so that I remember to add them to my spreadsheet system. If you worry about forgetting, you could always add the products to the sheet at the time of purchase (if you order online) and then leave the lot information blank until the product arrives to you. I feel like this comment has gotten a tad lengthy so I will stop yammering at you. Please let me know if you have any question or would like my assistance as I truly enjoy organizing and would love to help! Best of luck! Nicole

However you choose to organize everything (brand vs type vs purpose, etc.), you need a system for locating products (and, their expiration dates). I would create a list or a spreadsheet on your computer where each product is listed (you have to decide what information would be most useful for you and should be included, such as brand, product name, type, purpose, open and/or acquire date(s), expiration date, etc.) and where it’s located in your storage system. For instance, the bins should be numbered. Then, for each product in a bin, you include the corresponding bin number for the item on your list/table/spreadsheet. If you organize items within the bin by using smaller bins, clear plastic bags, etc., then each sub compartment should be designated using a, b, c, etc. So, a product would appear in your system as located in “bin 1a” or “bin 2c.” Similarly, if you continue to keep some products on the shelves (maybe those you haven’t yet opened, or ones that you have pulled for upcoming videos), you need a system that will permit you to easily locate those items. I would suggest assigning a number to each shelf, and then subdividing each shelf (either by buying or making shelf dividers, or marking off each section with durable tape, paint, or possibly even nail polish), and then assigning a letter to each section of the shelf, allowing you to indicate that an item is located on shelf 1a. Any time that you move a product to a new location or dispose of it in some way, you pull up your list/table/spreadsheet in your computer and update the information. You could also include a section for brief comments regarding the product, such as discontinued, dupe for x, replaced by brand with _______ product. (My mom actually had a similar system for locating items in the freezer. She would keep a notebook and list all the items that were on each shelf; if things were moved around or an item was consumed, you were supposed to update the list. She also included the date each item was placed in the freezer. And, she organized her clothes closet by not only the type of clothes (short sleeve shirts, long sleeve shirts, pants, skirts, etc.), within each category, they were grouped by color. She even alphabetized her spices. Drove me crazy! But, it worked for her. IMO, she went too far when she had her kids in alphabetical order. (My older sibling’s name comes just before mine in the alphabet. Mere coincidence?). Hope these ideas help!

What about taking a Marie Kondo approach to start with-declutter anything that doesn’t spark joy! Secondarily, I personally would organize either by product type (toner, moisturizer, etc) and/or by actives.

Get see-through bins/baskets and label them by type (i.e. moisturizers, toners). If you REALLY want to organize, make a spreadsheet for each bin. Donate the items you know you won't use.

Separate by product type. I know you can't throw out the old stuff because it is part of your job to keep track of changes and old formulations. Maybe take photos of the older stuff and stick those items into deeper storage so you can reference them later if needed.

lot of great ideas here but rather than keep the expiry of each product on an excell sheet, i'd get a lil label maker and add the "open date" and "expiry" on the top of each product! i find it's way easier for me to be able to keep track of the expiry when it's super duper duper visible on the product rather than hidden away on my pc

I'd start by removing all unnecessary items from the room which block your space - e.g. the lamp, security safe etc. You'd get more breathing space :) Then remove all expired/not needed cosmetics.Good luck with the reorganization!

When it comes to normal use case, I'd recommend people organize by product type including a reasonable level of detail considering the number of products you have (1st cleanse oil, 1st cleanse balm, 2nd cleanse liquid/cream, 2nd cleanse powder, first essence, exfoliating toner, hydrating toner, essence, etc.). Essentially every product should be interchangeable within your routine so you'd distinguish between types of serum because you wouldn't replace a vitamin c serum with a hydrating serum. I'd then organize those categories based on estimated expiration date. As far as organization I'd want drawers you could break apart and ideally ones that were see through, though it also may be good if you don't want to spend a lot on new materials to just use the white boxes and organize within those boxes using large see through ziploc bags that you line up in order. All that said, I'd recommend a 3 fold approach for your organization given that you need to do videos. First I'd recommend an inbox that should be very limited in size to cover products you haven't tried yet with about 1 box to store random items and 1 box you've organized for future facing video ideas (take products and toss them in bags in anticipation then put them in the box). Next for products you've tried and like, I'd recommend placing them in the system I outlined above where you organize on product type. Finally for products you don't like but are keeping for comparison purposes only, I recommend storing them separately either by product type or brand name, whichever you find more helpful. I'd go through each of these areas once a quarter and get rid of things to keep organizational space. As you organize I'd also ditch expired products or dupes you'll never use. Finally product organization aside, I think you should create a spreadsheet with product information and some b-roll application footage for products you really only want to cross reference for comparison purposes. The products themselves are going to go bad in skincare resulting in texture, color, scent and other issues. Having some notes and b-roll (maybe with a white background or something that'll fit into any video) will help you avoid the need to keep things and a spreadsheet will be quick to pull up materials. You can also use the spreadsheet to track purchases and expiration and organize via product type by using tabs.

😱 oh wow! Ok, so my first thought is to organise all the same product categories together( toners one place, cleansers in another etc), and organise each category alphabetically. Also create a spreadsheet that has all the products, their primary functions, star ingredients , your experience/ thoughts about it and also the expiration date and date you opened it along with the pao. But really just start by organising all the toners together, moisturisers together etc. That’s my first thought. It’s the most straightforward and will stop you overthinking the whole organisation process which could potentially make it be even more overwhelming and delay it . Good luck!! I’m happy to accept anything that you dont enjoy 😂🥰 Edit: and can’t wait to hear your thoughts about kisocare azelaic acid!! ☺️

I did an Excel spreadsheet to document all my products, but I don't have nearly as much as you do. I have the product name, Product type, brand and use by date. In your case, you would want to include a bin number (think the way Ikea does in their store). I organize most of it by expiry date, but in some instances, I organize by category as well since I like to ensure I use sunscreens that expire first. It is really tough to deal with a lot of products, but I think documenting it with a bin number would make things easier to search and find in the future for sure. ❤

Wow Sarah! do a bin by product type in front of the bin the product that is close to expire. Then do a list on excel of the products in the bin and include expiry dates, place the list inside the bin. Label each bin at the front. You could do a discounted sale of products that are close to expire.

If I had your prob , I’d be happy ) I am a dog trainer so I could watch the pups and go through your stuff !!! 😂😂 My idea would be 1. Throw out outdated products 2. Put products in categories , toners , serums ,vitamin. .. e, f, k, and c , retinals, body creams, face creams , aha , bha, exfoliants , etc night serums , morning serums , makeup : face, eye, cheeks, lips , lashes, nails, mascaras . 3. Reason for keeping items in “ categories “ is so u can find quickly before filming a video . Ex. Need a Japanese serum with centellla/ 4. For fav brands , ex Korean or Japanese , keep one bin for each brand as u will Rob have a lot of products from that brand ( BOJ ? Geek & Gorg) 5. Make an assorted bin : label it! Sponges / brushes / combs : innovative products 6. Your beauty aids: led mask ,nuface ,, zip, masks , micro needling , etc . New gadgets 7. Products u haven’t opened and tested : write NEWEST ( date ) Sept 24.24. / 8. Gifts : products for family , friends that u don’t want but are tested etc 9. ??? Giveaway bin: I think in one newsletter a sub won skin care ?? It sure , so put new unused products in bin . 10. Products dangerous to dogs : in a high bin off floor / like xylitol , spfs, essential oils that are toxic to dogs . 11. Seasonal bin: advent Calendars , Christmas themed products , vacation Themed / Brand skin care / winter care / summer care / halloweeen Makeup / lashes and lash glues / nail , face paint / summer oils , for hot weather 12. Spfs one bin / European / Asian 13. SPF / one bin US ONY : chemical, mineral spf oils / makeup with spf in it: lip balms / face POWDERS , US MADE ONLY 14. A new bin ( latest pr , date Oct 2-31. Nov. 1-3. Dec 1-31. With a dated sticker on bin as it will change. Constantly ! 15. Items you’re not sure about . Donate to shelter ? Recycle / have a friend pick up and take to goodwill ? 16. Your personal everyday go tos: one spf, moisturizer , perfume (?) seri , Vitc , tretinoin(?) skin tint , lip balm . In one small makeup bag in a bin that u can grab and go , or rotate in it products you’re testing daily ? 17. Filming stuff : batteries , usb ,ink. Mini microphone /?labels , index cards for labels , filming bulbs , cameraman stuff , on reserve . 18. Leave one bin open for JUNK . Label and date it/ when time allows ask friend to donate to a shelter for holidays : tape, sacks , office supplies , shampoos, lotions, spfs i minis / hand sanitizers minis / etc Hope this helps .good luck 🥰& hi to the pups 🐶🐶

I don’t have as much as you but my husband would be like you got too much 😂😂. I separarte by items so cleansers and cleansing oils in one. Serums on another. Vitamin c is in the drawer with “to use” lineup since I always have one in rotation. Toners I just stocked up on. I try to check expiration dates. I also have a note on my phone with inventory so I know what to buy when I’m low and there are sales. I add also expiration dates. I also share w my daughter so I try to have what she likes in stock.

I have OCD so consider this. Label each of the bins “A - cleansing balms” “B - cleansing oils” Then each balm order them by expiry (expired to oldest date) on a table Then write on them with a sharpie 01, 02, 03 Then create a spreadsheet and password protect it On the spread sheet, you have the separate sheet at the bottom, name the sheet after the bin Then fill out the sheet. The number, the name of product, the expiration. Into the columns. - ie: 07: House of Dowah June 2025 Once on spreadsheet, place in bin. The good thing with the spreadsheet you can add more info. Ie: gifted y/n Retailer: YesStyle Ranking (1-10): 10 Would repurchase: y/n Best for which skin type: oily Holy grail status: y/n And so forth. Yes it’s ocd but it’s a very structured choice Also I used expired products. I have Lancôme products bought back in 2018 and still using 😁😍 smells and feels the same! 🤷🏻

(1) Start fresh if you can-if you have the space, start by taking everything out of the room to a quiet, low-traffic location, as this project will likely take days if not weeks. Bin by bin, bag and box, organize products by usage/category (toners, moisturizers, special care, etc) while checking expiration/manufacture dates (keep a sharpie nearby!). As you do this, it’ll give you a better idea of what size/kinds of storage you’ll need. (2) As someone with ADHD-*CLEAR BINS* are a must. Object permanence is an important concept I struggle to grasp without being able to see everything I currently have 😅 (3) No stacking either-if it’s hard to get to you won’t use it, if it’s hard to put away it turns into clutter. (4) Misery enjoys company-whether it’s Camera Man or FaceTime with a friend, having someone to pass the time with really helps. Idk about you, but I always find myself tidying up and cleaning the most obscure things when I’m on a long phone call 😂 Organization systems I currently use in my apartment that have been revolutionary for me (I was the messy room child): - Elfa system from The Container Store - iDesign Linus Spice Rack - iDesign plastic organizers of various sizes (purchased through Amazon) The Container Store and Muji have a lot of other great storage solutions too!
