I am readying Kisses from Katie and by the end of introduction I was already in tears. Every single page of that book is just so touching, inspiring and convicting. Knowing the Lord and make Him known is far more precious than any wealth and comfort this world can offer.

I cannot for the life of me understand why Katie Davis wanted to be like Mother Teresa from a very early age. Who was Mother Teresa? She was an ecumenicist who did not believe Jesus was the only Way to God. She said: "There is only one God and He is God to all; therefore it is important that everyone is seen as equal before God. I’ve always said we should help a Hindu become a better Hindu, a Muslim become a better Muslim, a Catholic become a better Catholic. We believe our work should be our example to people. We have among us 475 souls - 30 families are Catholics and the rest are all Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs-all different religions. But they all come to our prayers." "I once picked up a woman from a garbage dump and she was burning with fever; she was in her last days and her only lament was: ‘My son did this to me.’ I begged her: You must forgive your son. In a moment of madness, when he was not himself, he did a thing he regrets. Be a mother to him, forgive him. It took me a long time to make her say: ‘I forgive my son.’ Just before she died in my arms, she was able to say that with a real forgiveness. She was not concerned that she was dying. The breaking of the heart was that her son did not want her. This is something you and I can understand." She taught the woman to forgive her son but did she tell her about the eternal forgiveness she may have in Jesus Christ? Why should she when she merely wanted Muslim to be better Muslims and Hindus better Hindus?

oh... I think you've gone too far.. Even if she wanted to be Mother teresa, we should focus on what she has experienced in Uganda, not what she apparently has done. Recently I read the book "kisses from katie"(translated in Korean). In that book, I am confident that there was no glimpse of mother teresa in her life. Everytime she introduced Jesus to children. I do agree with the truth that there is no way of salvation but Jesus. Jesus is the way, truth and the life. No one can come to Father except through Jesus. But I can't run out of the verses, either. "If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled," without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?" (James 2: 15,16) As for me, Katie tried to do both things. 1.Giving them Food, and shelter. 2.Giving them the true Food, and true shelter, that is Jesus. If she mentioned "Jesus is not the only way.""Muslim can be saved without Jesus.", I would feel regretful, just like you did. But she didn't act like that. So, let's keep praying for her, and her ministry.

I believe when she says she wants to be like Mother Teresa, she means in her acts and kindness. You cannot deny that Mother Teresa (no matter her theological flaws) was an extremely kind and caring individual who spent her entire life catering to the needs of others, sick and dying, diseased and alone. When we think of Mother Teresa, we think of her unforgettable acts of kindness and love, not how she was theologically unsound. "I just loved her heart for children," Katie says. She probably has never even studied what exactly Mother Teresa "believed." I was there that night to hear Katie speak at Brook Hills, and it was a truly inspiring experience. I hold her in the highest regard and I admire her selflessness, for doing something that so many of us with comfortable and safe American lives could and would never do. And that, my friend, is what matters.

Taylor Griggs Wow, that's a very dangerous statement to make: "You cannot deny that Mother Teresa (no matter her theological flaws) was an extremely kind and caring individual who spent her entire life catering to the needs of others, sick and dying, diseased and alone. When we think of Mother Teresa, we think of her unforgettable acts of kindness and love, not how she was theologically unsound. " What does the Bible say about sound doctrine? "Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son." (2 John 1:9) It very simply states that if you do not abide in Jesus Christ's Word (doctrine), you are not saved. The main reason why Mother Teresa performed all those wonderful things was because she believed her good works were her ticket to heaven. She was doing exactly what her church - the Roman Catholic Church - wanted her to do. Here are a few quotes from Vatican II From the most ancient times in the Church good works were also offered to God for the salvation sinners... [by] the prayers and good works of holy people.. . the penitent was washed, cleansed and redeemed... Following in Christ’s steps, those who believe in him have always ... carried their crosses to make expiation for their own sins and the sins of others. .. [to] help their brothers to obtain salvation from God.... -Vatican II, Apostolic Constitution on the Revision of indulgences II5. ,III6. I, for one, wouldn't want to be like Mother Teresa because I think she's in hell this very moment. What do you say about her statement: ""There is only one God and He is God to all; therefore it is important that everyone is seen as equal before God. I’ve always said we should help a Hindu become a better Hindu, a Muslim become a better Muslim, a Catholic become a better Catholic." Since when has God given us the command to make people better than what they are. Nowhere in the entire Bible are we told that we should venture to make others better than what they are, no matter what religion they belong to. We can't even make ourselves better, let alone others. What concerns me about Katie Davis, is that the Internet is inundated with news of how she is following in the footsteps of Mother Teresa. Here is a quote from her book. “God reminded me how beautiful we all are to Him, after all, we were created in His own image, and He looks at me, at you, in all our sweat and dirt and brokenness, and says, "I choose you. You are beautiful.” ― Katie J. Davis, Kisses from Katie: A Story of Relentless Love and Redemption Where in the Bible are we told that we are all beautiful because we were created in his image? Yes, we are all created in his image but the Fall marred that image to the extent that his wrath rests on those who have not yet been recreated (reborn). Does God choose us because we are beautiful? Perish the thought. I'm sorry but that's not the Gospel of Jesus Christ David Platt ought to know these things and he should correct Katie Davis for saying things like this.

I think you need to revisit the principal of grace. It sounds to me as if you have a tinge of bitterness in your heart, and you are consumed with thoughts of the law (which is bondage) over the matter of grace and forgiveness in Christ. When we are saved, please don't forget that we are washed of our sins, not for us, but for the Father, so that he can see past the sin to what He intended us to be in the first place, which is beautiful and created in His image. Yes, he is a God of righteousness and holiness and is deserving of only the highest and best. But He is also a God of love and grace and mercy, longing to be reunited with His creation through Jesus Christ (and Jesus Christ alone.) His heart is for the widow and the orphan, those who are broken and oppressed. YES, we know that Mother Teresa was theologically incorrect. BUT, please remember what I stated before, which was that no one would know that without having first studied and researched it. She is known for her deeds, not her wrong theology. I am certain, that Katie Davis would not desire to follow in Mother Teresa's flawed theological teaching knowing that it was unbiblical. She merely is doing what she knows God has told her to do, and that is to love the unloved and the broken. My brother, please revisit James 1:27, and let it remind your heart of what the heart of Christ is. "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after the orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." Obviously, you would be most concerned about the "keep oneself from being polluted by the world" portion. However, I remind you that it says "...AND to keep oneself…" not, "...OR to keep oneself…" I do not believe it is a conditional statement. Both are equally as important. I want you to know that I do not agree with Mother Teresa's theology, not at all. Our purpose is to show everyone Christ, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and to make them aware that no one enters heaven except by Jesus. But I don't believe that Katie Davis trying to follow Mother Teresa's teachings, just her example in deeds. I understand your concern for the church and holiness and right doctrine, and that is all extremely important. Please don't think I am involved in a Gospel of tolerance and non-convertism. I believe once we are saved, we are washed clean, and are charged to walk by the Spirit (the deposit placed within us) and follow Christ and His teachings. I do not believe that grace is more than truth, or mercy more than righteousness. I believe in righteous and holy living, not that we can run about doing what we please once we've prayed some magical prayer asking for Christ to forgive our sins. I do not think sins can be washed away with deeds, and I do not believe works are our way to heaven. BUT, I do believe that we are all to care for the poor, the widow, the prisoner, the orphan, the homeless, the sick, the lame, the leper, and even the unsaved sinner, so that Christ may be glorified through us, and so that they may see His love in us. I say all of these things to make you aware that you are coming off as harsh and cynical, bitter even. Be careful what you assume of people. You don't know Katie Davis personally, nor have you spoken with her on this matter. If that is so, how can you be so accusing and condemning? Speak the truth in love, brother. Peace and Blessings in Christ, Taylor

I have absolutely no bitterness in my heart. I am concerned that Katy Davis and David Platt are presenting the Gospel of Grace as a kind of Mother Teresian works-based Gospel. Surely, you must have noticed that I focused on Davis' desire to be like Mother Teresa from a very early age. If you can prove to me that Mother Teresa proclaimed the Gospel of Grace and the forgiveness of sin I would be happy to admit that you are correct. Until then I cannot agree that I am consumed with thoughts of the Law instead of with God's grace. I fully agree that we are washed in Christ's blood when we are forgiven our sins. The fact remains that the Gospel of Christ is not encapsulated in the phrase "God reminded me how beautiful we all are to Him, after all, we were created in His own image, and He looks at me, at you, in all our sweat and dirt and brokenness, and says, "I choose you. You are beautiful.” If we are all beautiful because we are made in the image of God, it follows that He chooses us all unto salvation? Most people (rich and poor) are going to hell because they refuse to receive Jesus Christ as their Saviour. It is not I who says so. It is God Himself who said so: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (Matthew 7:14). Sin and especially the unpardoned or unforgiven sins of unbelievers are definitely not something beautiful. Yes they are still made in the image of God but his wrath remains on them. "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." (John 3:36). Why are you prepared to honour Mother Teresa for her good works while you overlook her Roman Catholic doctrines? I can assure you that I studied Mother Teresa's doctrines and they are not in harmony with the Word of God. You seem to overlook Katy Davis' desire to be like Mother Teresa. Why not rather be like Jesus? OK, you may say, "Well that's exactly what Jesus said, 'Care for the sick and the poor etc." I know many missionaries who are doing just who have no desire to be like Mother Teresa or that their good works are splashed on KZbin.. Their right hand does not know what their left hand is doing. Would you say that Mother Teresa (on whom I focused my original post) was a James 1:27 saint? The point I have been trying to make all along is is that Katy's wish to be like Mother Teresa is not biblical. Having done so she is focusing everyone's attention on Mother Teresa in stead of on Jesus Christ. Once again I need to ask, why not rather desire to be like Jesus? I can assure you that the Holy Spirit who's extremely sensitive and easily grieved will never approve of anyone wanting to be like Mother Teresa. By the way, Katie was raised a Catholic. I don't know whether she still is one. Her strong desire to be like Mother Teresa seems to confirm this. Indeed, Christians are called to help the poor but it is not mandatory. Jesus said: For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you want, you can do good for them. But you will not always have me. (Mark 14:7) Did you notice the "whenever you want?" Obviously Katy wants to help the poor. She is doing a good job and I commend her for it. However, she seems to think that Mother Teresa is the epitome of a person who helped the poor. That's not true. As I said, I know many missionaries who are helping the poor but you never hear of them. They are doing their work in silence. It's a pity that you see my posts as harsh and cynical when I am merely stating the facts. How would you have said what I had written in love? Would you also have said what Paul once said? But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. (Galatians 1:8). I suppose the way to say the above is to smile from ear to ear while you put your right hand on your heart. Is that it? Mother Teresa was a false prophet who proclaimed another Jesus an another Gospel. Would you want to be like her? I cannot understand how you can condemn Mother Teresa's doctrines but eulogize her works. The message of this video is amazing. David's book Radical is challenging and Katie is an inspiration, but the use of hip ultra-spiritual jargon is off-putting. Katie doesn't do it nearly as much as David. It seems he is just trying to sound cool and 'play the part' of an ignorant middle class American shocked by her lifestyle...instead of who he is - the AUTHOR of "Radical."

And by the way, David Platt is a Calvinist who believes God hates sinners and never died for the non-elect, but chose to send them to hell, even before the foundation of the world because it pleased Him to do so? How's that for LOVE?

Tom Lessing never in my life have I seen someone who appears to get it but is so far from getting it at the same time. It’s sad. You’re a Pharisee. Why don’t you humble yourself and go about the father’s business sharing love? You sit here behind a keyboard spewing crap. Can you not see that she is sharing the love of Jesus in practical ways? What the heck is wrong with you?
