I knew they were going to be cheap from the start. Mattel is super cheap nowadays, I think they don't care about dolls anymore. Decent looking dolls are super expensive and hard to afford, especially for collectors who live in small countries where it's hard and even more expensive to get them - like I do. I knew they would be like that I didn't have high expectations on quality, but I had expectations on face and clothing designs, I hoped they were accurate to the movies The faces are pretty accurate, but the clothes are bad, not only because it's all molded and with cheap skirts, but they're not movie-accurate at all! But I'll still buy my two favorite princesses, Ariel and Cinderella, because they're pretty I like Ariel's new face, sweet but also a little mature, but I HATE the mermaid version, why Mattel is obsessed with making Ariel’s tail with frills, swirls and weird fins? Plus the color change effect is BORING! They should make an Ariel swimming with the same design of the movie Cinderella is ok, cute face but disappointed that she doesn't have her iconic 50s fringe (I'm resigned by now, they will never make an accurate doll with strawberry blonde hair and silver dress) Now I understand a couple of things: These dolls are meant to be the cheap alternative to ShopDisney dolls, so Disney specifically told Mattel to make them like this, to encourage us collectors to buy ShopDisney dolls that are now the best on the market. And now it is clear that Mattel did not lose the license because the latest dolls were of low quality, but ONLY because of the Ever After High, which was an obvious competition for Disney Princess. So Disney is fine with these cheap dolls, as long as they're the only fairytale dolls on the market So I doubt that this playline dolls will improve and I strongly doubt that Mattel will make collector dolls, because they would be a dangerous rival for the ShopDisney limited edition dolls

I was glad to hear that Mattel would be making the Disney dolls again. I don't like the Hasbro ones at all. But I was out of dolls for a while, so I didn't realize how bad the last Mattel Disney dolls were... and it's so depressing that they seemingly didn't improve them at all. I guess if I want a Disney doll, I'll go straight to the source and get them from the Disney Store. And the whole trend of sculpting/painting on clothes needs to stop. It only makes sense on dolls meant for water play, and even then that's unnecessary because A) the paint will eventually come off and B) fabric swimsuits for the dolls exist. Whoever thought that up needs to be strangled.

That really is a disappointing doll line. Looks like they’re squarely aiming at the toddler market. And maybe the body swap doll collectors, who just want the head to put on a made-to-move body.

There are some nice things like the faces that are really nice about them, but they are quite different than some other Mattel dolls like monster high dolls, that have more articulation

JUST GIVE THE LICENSE TO MGA FFS!!! Diseny should have done there research on best company, skipped Mattel & move onto MGA & given them the license. MGA litteraly are the best company right now & personally, I would've liked to see how they use the license. Mattel's new dolls are LITTERALY the same as 2014 with only difference is the faces. I'm sorry ( not) but I want the style series to be the basic budget line quality & I don't think Diseny should stand for anything else.

at this point, just let Jakks Pacific take a shot.

The fact they don't include Jasmine in this set has me worried about her inclusion. Maybe in a future set? I hope the dolls get better in quality but I doubt it...

and they wonder why kids get so bored with toys nowadays..its because most toys are so uninspired and bland what child is gonna wanna play with a hunk of plastic that you can’t do much with? I think the fun that comes with dolls is changing their clothes brushing their hair and posing them… if you can’t do that then what’s the point of having a doll
@TheStOne12 жыл бұрын
And also admire their beauty and quality, kids want dolls because they like it at first sight, maybe they don't know why exactly they like a specific doll but the designers should know what appeals to kids and it's not that different to what appeals us adult collectors. Who's gonna like a doll that looks like a stiff piece of plastic with a stiff skirt that looks like shower cap material and is not even puffy or elegant? They look like garbage, kids won't care for them.

I know how you feel I also hate molded on tops it really just ruins the doll
@Katesaprincess2 жыл бұрын
You should do the classic dolls they sell at the parks. Those are much better.
@meagtaylor33922 жыл бұрын
I was also expecting a lot more since I thought losing the license might have been a wake-up call. One thing I was thinking was that it's such a shame the clothes are molded to the doll because kids love to dress up their dolls and switch clothes but they can't do that with these.

I love your videos and I know its sad they are so bad quality we need quality dolls like the good old days when mattel was so good with there dolls why did Mattel get so low quality
@carlonavarro46902 жыл бұрын
I think! These dolls are meant to be for the Play line dolls. Because Disney already has classic dolls so Mattel doesn't need to create a more proportional doll If it's only for young kids to play.

Mattel needs to look back at their 90s Disney dolls as inspiration. Those were hands down the best Disney dolls! Especially the Pocahontas ones. Very film accurate and boxes that matched the film’s font and theme!

I don't know why anyone is surprised. I never understood the excitement about the license going back to Mattel.

Mattel no longer cares, they have literally said the people will buy anything and so they’re shipping out anything.

It is so disappointing that currently this company is not careful, they are lazy and abusive. They don't even care about fashion, they just copy and paste from other companies... they should definitely fire almost everyone and put in new more passionate and serious people, including the CEO. This is so disappointing.

Tube skirts??? There is more fabric in a handkerchief, this is horrible. Not worth more than 5 pounds honestly
@darrellwallace41822 жыл бұрын
I admire your honesty. I have never gotten the impression you want to be negative about any doll, but I respect and agree with your criticism that Mattel is doing a horrible job with some of their doll line's, specifically the Disney princess dolls. Thanks for being honest and as usual, great review!

Disney should have given the licence to MGA !!!!

It’s so sad that these dolls have to be some of the cheapest ones on the market. I mean they’re the Disney princesses for goodness’ sake!
@BunnyTsukino19992 жыл бұрын
It's an absolute shame. With the quality they've brought to the 2022 MH reboot(Regardless of how you feel about the designs, the articulation is pretty good and they have fabric clothing, which is, for some reason a high standard these days), I thought maybe we'd have dolls instead of statues with skirts. The heads are pretty good, but the plastic torsos will do terribly for consumers and the environment. On the other hand, ShopDisney's obsession with glitter isn't much better.

I totally agree!!! When is Mattel going to listen to consumers and make better quality dolls!?!? Just very sad that a beloved company is producing such poor quality.....
@iamsoverybored8782 жыл бұрын
Even the collector ones are cheap looking it's like they don't care since most collectors keep the dolls in the boxes anyways. That's why is good that KZbin channels like this one actually open the boxes to see what the dolls really looks like.

I feel like they should give the rights to MGA cause lines from MGA are really good quality for example bratz, rainbow high

Honestly, yeah. MGA is for the most part the only ones making good quality dolls right now.

Mga wasn't lying when they said mattel copies lmao, no hate to mattel what so ever, it's just sad to see mattel literally copy hasbro but at least they're better and more proportionate and I will be getting them especially elsa and anna bc despite the basic dolls, the frozen dolls are really nice! ❄️💙💜
@awetistic52952 жыл бұрын
Doll lines like Rainbow High or OMG have layered, detailed, all fabric dresses. Mattel choses plastic tops and printed details on cheap material. Come on, just give us MGA quality with the Disney license and a more realistic, less cartoonish aesthetic.

Ugh yeah I absolutely HATE molded on clothing, especially since I do custom doll repainting as an art hobby, and molded on clothes usually render a doll nearly USELESS for repaints! >:(
