All that glorious orchestral tone in just a little over 3600 pipes. Proof you don’t need 10,000 pipes to make a statement! I absolutely love this particular Father Willis instrument. I doubt I’ll ever get to hear it in person as I’m located across the pond but it’s wonderful so many recordings have been made on this special instrument. Salutations from Illinois USA. 😉❤️🎶

I’ve sung here a couple of times and let me tell you it’s unreal… some pieces literally have made me cry from how beautiful it sounds echoing around me. The organist plays to the building expertly as well

Gorgeous voices. Reverb throughout the catherdral is perfect (to my ear). Another beautiful organ warranting preservation for all time. Thanks for sharing this.

Love that little bit of Durufle you play at the beginning. Takes me back to sitting in the choir writing up my uni notes listening to you practice the durufle requiem. Totally amazing being able to hear the Sanctus without any voices, sooooo many notes!!!!!

WOW! What an awesome instrument. Father Willis knew just what was required to make this glorious sound without over-doing the number of ranks but what a statement this instrument makes. It's probably unlikely that I'll get to hear it live but this video demonstrates the near-perfect acoustics of the cathedral.

I Played a concert in 1994 when David Flood was Organist. I will ever remember the "silvery" tonalities of this very fine organ ( The finest in the Uk ?) and thought ( at that time) how fortunate that the organ had remained on the screen. One only has to listen to the tonal dispersement of the departments in that glorious acoustic to realize that this is the quintessence of British Organ Building. O that organs had remained on the screen as one can hear how this perfectly fills the Nave & the Choir.Chris Australia.

When hearing a magnificent example of a Father Willis organ, my mind's eye paints a most glorious picture of an English Cathedral situated in somewhere in the countryside e.g. Durham Cathedral as seen from the riverside of the River Wear. Just so much drama and breath-taking beauty. Thanx a trillion to Richard McVeigh and Jeffrey Makinson for making it happen.

Back in Lincoln on my narrowboat. Second time in two years and a joy to be at Evensong most days. Great to worship in such a building with such a choir and organ. Clergy, choir, musicians, vergers, and volunteers all very welcoming to both humans and dogs. A truly great city and cathedral to visit. Don't miss the art gallery below the cathedral.

Thank you Jeffrey for a great demonstration of a magnificent organ. You are most correct in saying it sings throughout the entire cathedral, wonderfully balanced and clear tones. Richard, thank you for your excellent recording of this (and many other) pipe organs throughout Great Britain. By far the best organ videos I have heard on KZbin. Very well done.

The best stop on any organ is actually the acoustic. And this I believe is what Lincoln Cathedral Willis is blessed with ! It's also interesting to note that in every divison the mixtures are 12-19-22. Don't know if that is a Willis trait ? And unusually too a concert flute at 4ft on the choir. Normally u find that stop on the solo.

A terrific instrument in a great acoustic environment and very nicely demonstrated. Also a very good recording and I’m really fussy! But I’m a bit confused as to how a pre-1900 organ can have a push button general cancel. Surely electromagnetic or electro pneumatic systems weren’t yet invented??

This instrument has been restored by Harrison and Harrison, and the more up to date systems were done then. However the Father Willis pipework has been preserved.

I counted the number of stops it's impressive I see that it's indicated on the left of the screen.... almost all my life it has been the organ..... personally for the composition you have to touch the keyboard I explain to myself the inspiration of being that by directly touching the keyboard I do not think by the box of writing and staff and of all the rest finally it's unfortunately like that or fortunately I don't know how to say that we compose
