Hey friends! One thing I wanted to mention is that in this video I mentioned that this brush was made in partnership with Chikuhodo brush makers. I noticed that in previous years the product page has mentioned this but in this year's it does not. So I am not 100% if the Chikuhodo brand produced this but it seems like the design and quality are equal to that of other years. Just wanted to mention that because it doesn't explicitly say on the product description for this year's brush.

Are you sure that’s the Z-9? I’m pretty sure it’s the Z-1 in the line. The Z-1 is the powder brush that is round and smaller. The Z-9 is actually longer and more rectangular. Just to be accurate 😁. I only know because I’m kind of a nerd and own all the Chikuhodo squirrel powder brushes.

So I received my tiger brush. It’s lovely. It has a great shape, sort of a squat Z-9. Wonderfully full and soft. Certainly worthwhile for the price of a blue squirrel powder brush.

Great comparisons! I just received my BL LNY year of the tiger too and it is beautiful! 🤩 I am so wanting the Koyudo one as well. I love how well the BL tiger brush applied your bronzer, that was the application method I was most excited to try it for - so I’m happy it works well for that! 😍

I ordered the BeautyLish Year of the Tiger brush, and it’s very pretty and soft! I haven’t used any of their brushes previously so I’m excited. I was surprised how lightweight the brush is compared to Sonia G brushes, not that it impacts quality but I noticed it immediately. I did ask the BeautyLish representative who made the brush and they couldn’t share but DoD say a brand sold on their website manufactured the brush. I am pretty certain it is Chikohodo based on reviews from the other lunar new year as well as the design. I did buy a koyudo (spelling?) 4 piece brush set that comes with a storage box and a little coin latch brush holder, so I’m excited for that to arrive!

Yay! What a nice addition to your collection! I am not sure why their landing pages in years past called out Chikuhodo specifically but this year they don't. Either way it seems like the quality if very comparable :)

Great review! I have one question, and a thought: first, did you wash the brush before you used it? (I was curious if that shape is the washed or unwashed version.) And I think there's a pretty big difference between goat hair and squirrel hair brushes. Goat is great for firmly pressed powder products (think the Hourglass palette stuff)...it picks them up a lot easier, but it also deposits them in a more pronounced manner. Squirrel works great on loose powders, and it's also much more forgiving with highly pigmented products (you use squirrel with a rich pigment blush, and you stand a much better chance of not winding up looking like you're auditioning for a circus.)

Great question! I did wash this before the review. I found that it didn't change too much after one wash. But what I DID find is that it fluffs out a lot more after using it for over a week straight. I do a lot of follow ups like this on my Instagram :)
