I personally love how you do everything at home and homemade. I love how the cake actually turned out better how you did it, even with it not being how you planned. I would rather see birthday parties like this made with love and homemade imperfections rather than hiring companies to do extravagant perfect parties. All Carter cares is he had his friends and family and a pokemon party. What more could a 7 year old ask for! Good job Mama!

I make cakes too, if you’re in a pinch and have to use store bought icing try putting it in the kitchen aid and adding extra powdered sugar until you get the consistency of buttercream icing. Helps to stretch the icing and makes it thick and fluffy 😘

Also, don’t use the liquid food coloring or it will make the frosting watery. Try using gel food coloring. It’s a thicker consistency and won’t make your frosting runny.

If you whip the store bought icing in the kitchenade it's more like a homemade icing consistency. It also whips air in and increases the volume and makes it easier to spread 😁

We went camping that windy weekend in Bedford/Somerset county (western PA). That weather was the craziest weather ever. You could see your breath in the tent at night it was so cold. My face got sunburned from trying to warm up the next day. Everything came out awesome!! 💪🏼💪🏼 can’t wait for their mermaid party!

Hey Tiff, Try this icing recipe. Tried and true and perfect every time. Makes a big batch for a 3 layer cake. 1- 8oz cream cheese 1 and a half (boxes) of powdered sugar (name brand- domino- works best) 1 and a half sticks of butter Splash of vanilla extract or more if you wish Enjoy! When I’m making party treats I use my slow cooker to melt my chocolates and coatings. I fill up cooker half way with hot water and place wide mouth jars with the coatings/chocolates. This melts them and keeps them at a consistent temperature. Also making it so much easier bc I have more than one color ready to go!

Don't forget when making your own icing, to add a bit of shortening to it, that stabilizes the icing so it doesn't melt as fast. Everything looked so adorable..
