Y'know, I've always loved Kamina, great character, fantastic design, and obviously a massive inspiration. I realized while watching this that there are more personal reasons that I really like this character and this show, Kamina is someone who grew up in a sleepy settlement, dreaming of great things, and actively working to reach those goals, outgoing, unafraid, and actively beneficial for everyone around him, I live in a quiet suburban town, at seventeen I have very few stories to share, I'm a very quiet person with a handful of really close friends. I realize that I admire Kamina because I am Simon, and if he can become like Kamina then damn it I can too, it may not be instant, hell, it'll take a lot of work for me, but I can do it, I know I can grow, because that's how a drill works

Simon doesn’t become like Kamina. At all. In his youth, he always says that as his goal but he ends up becoming a much more formidable character in his own right. Both smart and determined. Brash and level headed when he needs to be. By the final episode, he’s 10x more badass than Kamina. Although Kamina’s influence can’t be undersold. “A real man never dies, even if he’s killed!” - Kamina (Favorite line). But yeah, glad people are still watching this. The AMV brings tears to my eyes, thinking about how inspiring this anime was in my 20s. A must see for any young adult male struggling with anxiety and depression. Good times.

@@lemonlimeyipes1107 Simon is still his own person but he is very much influenced by kamina, it's kinda displayed by the final attack, he opens with Kamina's final move (the giga drill break), this larger than life attack, then finishes with his own (and only iirc) named attack (lagann impact), which is notably smaller and craftier It's been a while since I've watched it, but I don't remember Simon's more strategic fighting style getting a lot of show in the second part. I think that's kind of what I intended, or at least my perspective now after 2 years, Simon replaces the parts of him that held him back with the parts of Kamina that drove him forward. Kamina was bold and inspiring, but liable to get himself into trouble. Simon was timid and quiet but had the ability to strategize around a situation. they worked perfectly as a team because they were strong where the other was weak, Simon fixed the issues that held him back, and as someone who has similar issues holding me back, I take a lot of inspiration and motivation from that character development

I don't care what anyone else says, the fact they started in a hole in the ground, won a world war, discovered space travel AND fought a being who controlled space and time AND END with a freaking Fist fight TYING EVERYTHING together makes this one THE BEST ANIME with THE MOST SATISFYING ENDING. I'm curious if anyone over these 11+ years noticed that this incredible AMV for "Tengan Toppa Gurren Lagann"... does not have its title character of Tengan Toppa Gurren Lagann. This didn't feature the galaxy-sized mecha the entire show was building up to & utilized for a fantastic finale, but we were so swept up in the rhythm & energy of the editing that we didn't even notice... & I bet even after reading this, nobody even cares, because it's actually just THAT awesome of a journey we're being taken on & absolutely rocking out to. The worst part about this AMV was when it ended...much like every good anime out there. xD After only watching it twice, I can confidently say that this AMV is my favorite I've seen so far. Gurren Lagann makes for some amazing AMV material, and this song complimented the video 110 percent. I wouldn't say the effects are overkill. In fact, they perfectly match Gurren Lagann's explosive battle scenes and compelling character-defining moments. I'll definitely be back to watch this masterpiece over and over again. Great work! :D My only bad experience with Gurren Lagann was that the person who recommended it to me told me about a certain death about halfway through the series. :( If I hadn't already known what was going to happen, I probably would've cried, even though he isn't my favorite character of the series.

I guess i'm not the first to say that this AMV got me crying with real tears. Its as if I just rewatched the anime and the feels came pouring back. I can't fathom the difficulty of capturing emotion within an AMV but you've done it sir/madam, with fucking beautiful specific cutscenes and syncing it perfectly to the song, its honestly a masterpiece. This show never fails to make me cry everytime I love this show and all of it's charecters I genuinely think I am addicted to guren Logan and I will never forget this amv because it's one of the many things that made me want to watch guren Logan thanks for making me understand how great a show this was

The first time I saw this AMV it affected me so immensely that I never forgot it. I only listen to this song because of this AMV. I remember scenes of it whenever it plays. I truly believe this to be one of the best, most legendary AMVs ever made, and I am so grateful that this exists, I don't exactly how to explain.
