The audience refects their ideas, feelings and broken hearts on to her and her songs. 💔

My Tears Ricochet: Scott Is the man that discovered her at the bluebird cafe in Nashville in 2005 and signed her to his record label which he didn't even really have one at the time, Taylor was the first artist on the label and basically built the label. He was family to her and her family. Then when it came time to renew her contract with the lable, which was after reputation (which 'Look What You Made Me Do' also was directed towards Scott, Like if you knew everything, that song would probably resonate better with a lot more people and they'd probably like that song more, It's a lot more clever and a clap-back not only to Kanye but to as I said, Scott. Hence "The old Taylor can't come to the phone right now, why? Oh, because she's dead' referring to her basically losing/knowing she was losing all of her previous work, but thats just part of what that line in that song meant; The scene in the music video where she lifted the motorcycles aka the "Big Machines" which is the name of her previous label, Big Machine Records, was an easter egg as to what she was planning to do, reclaim her lifes work by re-recording albums 1-6, also again hence the "Look what you made me do" as in, im rerecording my albums and owning my damn work, the songs I wrote, the words that came from me and my experiences; She was told she basically wouldn't be able to switch labels and own her previous 6 albums so he gave her an ultimatum: resign with me and for every new album you put out, you get one back, and she was like, No? So Scott, who knew she pretty much despised scooter, sold her entire catalog to him out from under her which therefore she lost the right to own her life's work, her own words, her own melodies, all of it. For which then she was told she wasn't even able to perform any of her songs from her first six albums, as it would be seen as 're-recording' them (before she was able to) Which is why we now have Taylor's Versions. I am 100% sure this has been commented but thats what "My Tears Ricochet" is about.

tbh imo Jack Antonoff just not really good in making indie folk song in production wise. august is the only I can kind of accept but other songs are just meh. I also don't really like gold rush in evermore. It's not bad song, but it just doesn't feel like fit in the folklore/evermore sounding, I feel like it's more on softer Midnight tracks. In the other hand, Aaron Dessner captured the vibe so well makes me actually like evermore than folklore.

i love illicit affairs so much. i know what she wrote it about but i connect to it in a different way- how it felt to lose my first love. i felt invisible. i felt him slipping away. and i worried it was all a lie. the “illicit affairs” i think of when i hear the song are how his friend slandered me to him until he was too scared to lose his friend if he dated me so he disappeared. the clandestine meetings are him and his friend group eating lunch together every day, close as can be while i don’t get to be near him. the stolen stares was how i couldn’t stop looking for him, looking at him, for years after the fact. i take illicit affair not to mean like a love affair but just a general matter or thing or event. it kinda reminds me of ivy- one time when i was listening, i heard the song as “my pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand. taking mine, but it(“your freezing hand”)’s been promised to another”. instead of hearing the lyrics as i want you but im taken, it became i want you but you’re taken. i have related to both at some point in my life (both about the same guy, my first love) and i love how the lyrics are written in a way that you can interpret it in the way that will make you cry the hardest

Mirrorball isn't about a girl trying to keep someone in her life, it's about Taylor's artistry. "I (Taylor Swift) want you (the listener... the Swiftie) to know, that I'm a Mirrorball." It's a love song to her greatest love, the reason she is an artist. The regulars and masquerade revelers are critics and papparazzi. She doesn't see them as her fans. Her fans are not like them.

This album is full folk/indie, hence the name Folklore. This album has so much depth to it. When you get the chance, watch the Long Pond StudioSession. In it, Taylor is at Aaron Dessner’s upstate NY studio as mentioned by the name of the studio. It’s a small documentary about some of the songs. For some preface, here are a few and some TW for addiction, suicidal ideation, etc: 1. This Is Me Trying is about someone who is struggling with life, addiction, süicídal ideation, etc and is the person telling their loved ones, This Is Me Trying. I wanted to drive off the cliff but, I thought of my loved ones and didn’t 2. My Tears Ricochet is about Scott Borchetta, who was the head of her first ever record label, when she was 16. She trusted him explicitly and he threw her to the wolves by selling her albums out from under her. Now the tears she cried are his because while he’s sitting there wearing the watch he bought off of the money she made him, she began re-writing all of her albums (Taylor’s version) and he effed himself over in the end 3. The Last Great American Dynasty is about the beginnings of her home in Rhode Island and how everyone gossiped that she only married her husband for the money and probably redrummed him with her partying ways. He was an heir to the Standard Oil Company, it’s a true story that took place. There are a lot more but, that’s just some perspective of songs on this album and Evermore, which is in similar style. Of course, you know about the love triangle songs of Betty, James, and August (Augustine).

Is this your testimony?! Check out her live Grammy 2021 medley performance of songs from Folklore and Evermore, it's great! Also see the Eras tour film!

Your really should watch "Folklore: The Long Pond Sessions". Seeing her perform these songs in the intimate setting and hearing her discussions of each song will give you insights and help you appreciate each song in a new way. Also, you missed the bonus track: Taylor Swift - the lakes (Official Lyric Video) kzbin.info/www/bejne/qoCrlHSZaNdlodk Here is a sample of the Long Pond movie: Exile (Long Pond Sessions) kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWa2gnx7eMqXirs And, finally, since you liked folklore, you should listen to evermore (the "sister album".

Justin Vernon is the singers name - his band is Bon Iver (pronounced Bon Eee Vair)

It's pronounced both ways. I believe British people pronounce it like he did or even Bon "I-vah". Yep, very British 😂

Even though I'm a few years younger than Taylor, I feel like I've watched her grow up as her style, skill, and voice have evolved. I grew up listening to "Speak Now" and a handful of her other songs, and heard some hits on the radio; but when "Folklore" and "Evermore" came out I was amazed at how poetic and reflective they were. Her recent albums have a wistful and mysterious quality. I've continued to be amazed by how prolific she is and what a wide range of work she has, not only in style/genre but in mood/energy.

Well, Evermore is the sister album to Folklore, even released in the exact same year (2020 Covid, which you didn't mention when you were talking about Epiphany, but that was an important point of the song, it came out while medics were on the "front lines" with Covid,) so now you HAVE to make a reaction video to the Evermore album. The Evermore track ft Bon Ivor is I think essentially Exile ft Bon Ivor Part 2
@redheadinchina11 ай бұрын
And then of course right after that you then HAVE to do a reaction video of the Midnight album, as Folklore, Evermore, and Midnight all have songs that she cowrote with her long-time boyfriend Joe Alwyn, and then the last track of Midnight 'You're Losing Me' details their break up.

@@redheadinchina Joe pisses me off. He couldn't even be bothered to show up to the 2021 Grammys to support Taylor. They had to wear masks so "why didn't he show up?" and his name was hidden under a pseudonym at the time. Those photos showing Joe and Taylor running away from the paparazzi with their jackets covering their heads but Joe runs into the their home FIRST and in front of Taylor like a coward instead of waiting behind her and protecting her from any bad surprises like her falling down or some paparazzi decides to get too close to her made me really lose respect for him and think "poor Taylor yet again".

As someone new to Taylor, it’s understandable that you wouldn’t be 100% on par with what her songs are about. I also think it’s okay to take your own interpretation to her music, that’s what she wants fans to do anyway. I’m so glad you enjoyed this album. Welcome to the fandom ❤

i so agree about taylor’s unique melody writing ability, especially in her later discography. her melodies are very specific and very freaking cool. and what i love the most about them is that she obviously writes her own lyrics and knows how to accentuate them in the melody, so it works really well together. she’s just a genius i don’t know what you want me to tell you

I think your point at the end about her telling real people’s stories is why Taylor is such a popular artist. She is the biggest musician in the world atm, but nearly every song she writes is written in a way someone can relate to. Like anti-hero, or cruel summer. Two of her most recent big hits, but they are still relatable despite being directly about her life. Everyone has insecurities and moments where they feel like they are ruining something, and a lot of people experience some time of relationship that seems like it is full of obstacles that you have to keep running through “I don’t wanna keep secrets just to keep you”:

the last great american dynasty is a story about a woman named Rebekah Harkness, who Taylor described as "a misfit widow getting gleeful revenge on the town that cast her out." she married a man named Bill who was indeed an heir to the Standard Oil name and money and then he died of a heart attack. people started blaming Rebekah and saying she didn’t deserve everything she’s got and a lot of nasty things in general, so she got revenge on them and had a fun time “ruining everything”. Taylor bought the house she once owned and found a lot of similarities between herself and Rebekah, having a bad reputation but getting back at haters and all that. so she, being an incredible songwriter she is, wrote that genius song. iconic
