Kyle, thank you for getting my last name correct. It's pronounced "Lynn-DEE" (Not "Lind" like the chocolate company "Lindt"). Fun Fact: In the 90s, my brother and I discovered our name was Dutch in origin (and not German, as we had thought) by playing the video game "Conquest of the New World". It was a puzzling moment to see the Dutch AI player labeling things LINDE (like the Linde River and the Linde Mountains). A little bit of research later, my brother (who was still in high school and had more time on his hands than I did) found the history of the name. Also, thank you for the three time Super Nerd.
@Tharkon
@Tharkon 4 жыл бұрын
If it is Dutch it would probably (originally) be pronounced /ˈlɪn.də/ but when your family started speaking English it probably became /ˈlɪn.di/ because of how uncommon the mid central vowel [ə] is in English. Though in this case just add an -n to the end and it stops being a big deal even in English. Also, what system are you using that results in the transcription "Lynn-DEE". Because I see similar transcriptions often, but don't know how to read them.

I could see all kinds of skin problems and joints not working properly anymore. All kinds of ways your organs could get screwed up too potentially to the point the afflicted may not even live to tell about it. Hell I'd think if you were to survive a change like that you wouldn't want to go back to an ordinary human again cause it would probably kill you to do so.

Kyle, I really like your content, but seriously, what was that at 2:26? "You have no idea what's incredibly helpful for women." Really? No idea at all? Same species. A lifetime of interactions. Multiple videos on this very site-made by women and targeted at men-explaining how unpleasant menstruation is, and the guy can't suggest avoiding it would be helpful? (Also, he had already admitted the hair thing was a vanity mutation so he was clearly addressing the menstruation part specifically.) However, that's not the real issue here. Many people have already commented on the validity of your response (some in favor, some against), so I'll move on to a more troubling dynamic: the abuse of your power as a community-leader. Correcting misinformation is fine, but you, as a content creator, used your platform to single-out, insult, and publicly shame a member of your own community. Furthermore, you did so to a person who was only open to such an attack because they were actively participating in a discussion surrounding your content. The level of disrespect and arrogance demonstrated in your response is, frankly, staggering. I had hoped you were a better person than this.

As someone who also has ADD, I can tell you why. He's flashy, constantly doing something, has something attention-grabbing either visually or in an audio-sting, and the subject matter is also fascinating (which helps). Doing something or watching something that you genuinely are interested in helps to focus the brain past the natural issues of wandering attention, as it doesn't take conscious effort to want to focus on it. It's how I can play repetitive, tedious games like Factorio for hours on end (to the point I forget to eat), and yet I have trouble reading a book.

@@prince_nocturne yes I would say you are correct. Though sometime i wonder if A.D.D is actually a super power of own. It is know that while annoying those with it have shown hyper attention. Even given rise to random bouts or guenious. Lol. Which has led me to belive that it's not a dysfunction but a trait buried in or DNA from ages past. In modern day it is a hassle bit in olden times useful. Such as a hunter. Zeroed in on the hunt. Mabey as a warrior. If the mind can let go of all thoughts and see nothing but the battle. That would give a possible edge. A worrior that survives to pass his Gene's on to the next.

@@devinwarf9615 It's a learning disorder that can be overcome with practice and self-awareness. No need to overthink it. We have a lot of other issues that are still being worked on to overcome our more primal hunter days. Fight-or-flight, for example. The body interprets even daily stress as a threat. When this happens, the body reacts, such as tensing up even a little and increasing blood pressure. This (among many, MANY other reasons) is why people always have such sore shoulders. I'm a massage therapist, FYI, so that's where this comes from.

Another person with Ehlers Danlo’s is current reigning RPDR winner, Yvie Oddly. She discussed it on the show with how her body causes her a lot of pain and she had to be extra careful during physical challenges. But her hyper flexibility was a strength to her in her creativity and performance. For example, in a runway look that was very monk inspired, she walked with her hands in prayer behind her back, as if she was even more in tune with her deity. In this sense, it’s her taking a disability and its problems, and finding where she can leverage it to be a strength. Just thought I’d share that because it’s cool.

When it comes to the difference between genetic mutations and super powers... the supers always have the ability to endure their powers.
@NerdyAngel1989
@NerdyAngel1989 4 жыл бұрын
My thoughts on that have always been that they are wrong, in X-MEN they say it is one that was passed down from the father. For their bodies to be able to handle it that’s not possible the mutation has to be in multiple places. This also means given that the mutation comes on durning puberty or some other traumatic event they could only say the person has a gen that makes being a mutant more likely which is why all of them have that gen. They couldn’t however test you say you have that and must be a mutant as not everyone who has that gen would get powers just like any other thing like cancer for example.

Some questions: 1) could a single particle so close to "c" to have so much energy, and so mass, to become itself a black hole? 2) if particles with negative mass exist, would they attract each other and clump together like ordinary matter due to Newton's law of gravitation? 3) because of 2), would that clump of negative-mass particles push away ordinary matter an so needing to be confined in a pressure-resistant "jar"? 4) thanks to 3), could we create a zeppelin-like vehicle to fly efficiently?

So for #1 here is a good Vid youtube that might help explain: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZ-ve6Kbd6qSeK8 In short, things don't gain mass as V increases, but gain Relativistic Mass (more of a modification of inertia than anything else) #2 Negative mass particles would repel from one another. You can get an interesting perpetual motion machine with 1 mass particle and 1 negative mass particle chasing each other.

I actually listened to an inverview this evening with Dr Alcubierre, the astrophysicist who proposed a potential warp drive design in 1994. He admitted it wouldn't work for a number of reasons, but he was very educational about what negative mass/matter and negative energy actually mean. 1) Joseph was correct, it's "relativistic" mass, not actual mass that you're gaining. I disagree with Joseph on part 2 of your question, though. 2) We'd need to find some negative mass to be sure. Negative energy just means a smaller amount of energy than the background vacuum energy of the universe (an extremely small amount, but more than no energy whatsoever. We label this background energy as 0 even though it's a number higher than 0, and anything with more energy than this baseline is labeled positive). It would be unstable because even in intergalactic space, background energy would immediately flow into this bubble of 0 or next to no energy. It's like how heat energy disperses into cold. That's just the nature of entropy. It's debatable, but probably not the case, that you can turn this negative energy into "negative mass" particles. "Negative energy" still has some energy, so would likely make regular particles, if anything. 3) If you could make negative matter, they would clump together, but repel regular matter. The example Alcubierre used was if the sun was made out of negative mass, it would repel all the planets. If the Earth were made out of negative matter, it would still orbit around a normal matter sun but repel a moon made out of regular matter, because the sun is so much more massive and it's attractive pull on Negative Earth would be greater than Negative Earth's repulsion. 4) No, because of the example used in 3. The zeppelin would have to have as much or more negative mass than the entire Earth's mass to overcome Earth's gravity. Buoyancy with helium is much more practical.

You would probably not die from the damage caused by the spoon, but rather from things like lack of sleep (because it's hard to sleep while someone is constantly beating you with a spoon), or simply mental exhaustion.

YES. Blood vessels can burst all around you, probably you won't die but you'd be in constant pain, it can break your fingers also, at the end the pain and the exaustion and stress from the minor wounds would make you drop on the ground and die of something like heat stroke or thirst if outside

I am a major Star Wars fan and that is how I ended up watching your videos, and I feel like it would be fun to see where you could go with this. There are several instances that this ability is used, primarily in the Knights of the Old Republic video game series. I specifically would like to see you tackle on how Darth Nihilus used Drain Life to drain the entire life essence on and in the planet. Thank you for reading this, I love watching your videos!!!
