Do I know how to sew? No. Do I think I can learn how to sew? No. Am I still watching this entire thing acting like I know what you're talking about? Yes 100%🤣💙

Becca! I'd looove if you made some kind of beginner series-- how to read patterns, how to make adjustments to patterns (ie making it wider/smaller at the hips), and maybe a sew-along video(s) of some simple beginner patterns. I'm a beginner and trying my best to learn but don't have any in-person sewing classes near me :( In the meantime I'm living vicariously through your sewing videos until I get good enough!

That sounds like so much fun!! I would be so happy to put something like that together ☺️

Becca my grandfather was a Taylor. It makes me happy seeing you make your own patterns with paper, as this is what he always did way back when ❤️

Gorgeous makes! It's so nice to have uninterrupted sewing time 🙌 Now my kids are all a bit older I can go back to sewing for hours while they entertain themselves. And I can get to bed earlier, it's a win-win 😂

I use to watch a channel called Well-Loved here on KZbin. She's no longer posting videos but she still has her channel up so we can watch her old videos. She did thrifting, thrift flips, made clothes, and plus more. It's a small channel, but I love watching people make things. This video is reminding me of her channel right now😊

Aww!! I’m so glad her videos are still up so you can still enjoy them and even more glad that this video reminded you of her. I’m honored!

I wish I could watched this last week. I made a sleeveless tunic to wear with leggings! It was out of Lithuania linen! I did a mock up too and I'm like you I couldn't figure out the size chart because I too am several sizes! This made me feel better! It turned out great thank goodness! I seven more colors to play with!!❤

I need a skort that like that! For the top, instead of just measuring your bust and using that size, I recommend picking the shoulder size based on your upper bust (if they don't give this measurement, you can figure it out based on the cup size they draft for), and grading to the size for your waist and hips. You don't need to choose just one size! And then a full or small bust adjustment if the drafted cup doesn't match you.

Please don't blame your body or your ability to measure! Honestly choosing the size and adjusting fit is the hardest part of sewing but at least grading between sizes is easy enough and makes a huge difference

Try getting a new measuring tape! I learned that the soft ones that are normally used for body measurements can stretch out over time and give you inaccurate measurements!

Did you take any classes about pattern drafting or sewing in general? What's your standard seam allowance? When I worked in the costume shop in college (and the other five costume shops I worked at after graduation), we always used 5/8 so the costumes could easily be altered for different bodies in the future. I 10000% agree with you that ironing after every step makes the garment!

I also always end up with too big items of clothing when sewing, even though I did measure myself! Maybe they include lots of ease that we aren't jused to because of stretchy store-bought clothing? I don't know. Are there more people who have this problem or can Becca and I just not measure ourselves properly?

I have always wondered what kind of music you listen to when you don't have to conform to KZbin's royalty free monetization requirements lol. Do you have any recent favorite albums/playlists?

I discontinued my Seamwork subscription because their pattern block never fit me and I always have to make a lot of size alterations more than any other pattern company.
