That's the running theory dating back to this interview. But my take is that he's pretty ambivalent about it all. He mentions several religious exposures in his life from Judaism to Catholicism in his family but doesn't stand behind any in this segment.

Not for the first time. He always answers, when asked, but I'm not sure what people expect him to say. He's not there to promote the religion, he's not there to slam it, so what can he say, really? Whatever he says is going to make someone unhappy, so he stay diplomatic.
