The thing about expensive tennis clubs is I find the chances of having 30k to drop on an 'inititation fee' and being a good tennis player aren't actually that high. So yeah those clubs have good facilities and good tennis pro's who give lessons but they don't always have a deep library of good players. Hopefully public money will continue to support public tennis courts so that its not only people with $$ can play tennis, this is very important for the support/growth of the sport as well.

I live in Toronto Ontario Canada and can confirm that the municipal money is now going to pickleball. I'm fortunate though that there are two tennis domes closeby with reasonable membership rates. I suspect its due to the local affluent residents as both are close to hospitals...one hospital even has outdoor courts on site.
@The4.0GuyАй бұрын
yeah this is why contrary to what these guys said I think we should accept some compromise and go with 'sharing' the tennis courts with pickleballers on public courts instead of pickleballers getting their own devoted courts. my biggest concern when pickleball emerged was that it would cannibalize existing public tennis courts and now as you say it's taking the new municipal money getting spent moving forward. the typical public court protocol is you can use it for 30 mins and then the people waiting get to use it, if they want to use it for pickleball or tennis that is fine by me, but this way we still have public tennis courts. municipal planners just want to get people active (and stay elected) and pickleball is popular right now as well as being more efficient in terms of courts in a given space.

regardless of pickleball, the city hasn't been able to keep up with the increased demand from population growth at all. I used to play at the trinity bellwoods courts 10 years ago and you'd wait 15-30 minutes max to hit. Now there's a 2hr+ wait. I'm fortunate to be able to play at a club elsewhere, but even that has a 4 year wait list : /

One of the problems with the modern ATP and WTA Tours is that everyone plays the same style. If styles and tournament formats were a little more divergent and there was a comeback of the old all-court style, players with one-handed backhands, a revival of a game of angles and passing shots, and I think the game would be much more compelling.
@TennisnerdАй бұрын
I think that is a fair point, we need more diversity and contrasts...

Beckett, did you make a video, or include your reaction to trying the Strike 16x20 in any video? I am interested in your experience with it. I know a few people that really like that racquet and have seen other reviews on it where others love it.

Id love to hear what you have to say about the RF01 after you rebalance it to 315mm strung. to me, it really came to life after getting the HL maneuverability.

I have tried that, it is a good racquet, but the sweet spot is rather small

What about the boom Pro 2024? I thing that is the vcore pro 97 with extra power, spin and feeling. What do you think? I love it with 323 sw 310g and msv focus hex 27 lbs.

You guys should do a raquet tournament bracket by weight and see where you guys land on preferred sticks (eg Grqvity Pro vs Tecnifibre TF 40)

This convo at the end about choosing a racquet that accentuates your natural game vs giving you some 'new' benefit e.g. spin racquets is a battle for me lately. I have an inconsistent flat forehand and the 2023 vcore 98 has really given me some reliable free topspin which makes me a lot more consistent off that wing. the problem is that i'm a net player and the high launch angle is not natural for me to volley with, I can do it but i have to 'think' about it. the racquet that comes naturally to me is the 2022 ezone 100 but...like my previous 2017 ezone 98 lacks that easy topspin off the forehand.... Is there a way I can get more natural topspin out of the ezone 100 with string and maybe some balancing tweaks? (note I have to string with multi or something quite soft due to elbow)
@s41magazine37Ай бұрын
I'd highly recommend Vokyl Cyclone 125 in yellow. From a spin and affordability perspective, it's unparalleled! Check out the tennis warehouse reviews. I use the Ezone 98, with Cyclone at 50/48. I play at a County UK Level. 👍🏽

But Beckett is a UTR 5 no? 😵💫 Phantom is stable, but becomes even more stable with 1-2 grams. It can return a 200kmph serve if you have technique. I use it at UTR 8-10 level.

it's hard to criticize the marketing of tennis until they consolidate their broadcast rights.
@rbarreira2Ай бұрын
What do you mean? It sounds like you just criticized it while saying it's hard to criticize, or did I misunderstand?
@petershort936Ай бұрын
@@rbarreira2 I mean the idea of tinkering around with the scoring system or how tournaments work. All that stuff is ornamental until the tv rights get consolidated and packaged correctly. I don't think the game needs to change fundamentally for it gain popularity or even profit more. It's balkanized right now and it needs unification first, more than anything.

@@Sinisterg60 Dude they can "just live" without filming and posting it. I am not judging by my expectations of entertainment but neither of them look in the least bit interested themselves. Becket seems to be looking out the window? They are professionals presumably at least in terms of past standards and would presumably like to know when their standards drop below the vital signs of life.
