Love the videos, almost makes me think I can fix my own boiler issues. Too bad you are not in NY.

You are jumping out t-t thru the thermostat wire which is going thru another set of relay contacts that could have high resistance. To prove your theory, you would need to jump t-t directly and not thru the wired low voltage circuit. You will not open the reset on the cad cell relay if the R8184g is not sending line voltage to the cad cell relay. Better check FF terminals on the cad cell while burner is running to see if the resistance is less than 1800 ohms.

Nice job Steve--repurposing good used parts is a good call. In many cases probably better than some of the new junk…

Hell, if i had the space, time, and money, we would have an indoor boneyard of parts from everything 😂 wouldn't that beat it all. .

The only different in my set up to what you are working on there is I have a solenoid for fuel. AND I found today it got bad to worse as the power to the circulators quit. No voltage from the control. Wonder if that Aquest at is one of many issues.

The way things are made now I'd probably rather have a used one...good chance it'll last longer than something that was just made!

Amen. My system is 37 years old... I took over servicing and repairing it 15 years ago when my burner guy passed away. I keep it in great shape and try to only use new old stock parts or gear I buy second hand on Craig's list... the new parts suck... no quality control. I like the simplicity of my system and diagnostics are so much simpler then the new systems.

You may not care what the YT audience thinks about installing used parts in safety-critical places like boiler controls, but you should at least find out what your contractor's insurance underwriter has to say on the subject....
@tedbell441617 сағат бұрын
The parts are built to a standard and if they are that critical they have safety built in to them if there's issues. They are not parts Steve is building in the back of the truck. Get real
