If you are like me you have dual monitors, hard drives, UPS, your computer and other peripherals. Today I'm showing you how I cable manage my standing desk to accommodate for all my gear.

Speaking from experience from doing the exact same thing… Be careful with the double-sided adhesive ("Velcro"). If you're sticking things upside-down that generate heat, it will weaken over time, and the "glue" will start melting. For a more secure seal, separate the two sides, and firmly press/roll it onto each surface as if you're applying packing/duct tape.
@matt_logic4423
@matt_logic4423 3 жыл бұрын
This was my only feedback, that "tape" when applied to items which generate heat, will loosen and come apart, recently had a router fall after being installed in this manner.

How are you connected to the external drives? CAT6 or Thunderbolt/USB/? directly...? If you go with Ethernet, you can push all the servers to your closet and clean this up A LOT. Then you could have a SINGLE cable for internet and storage. If you are worried about speed. GIGAbit is good enough for most, but you could easily get to 10GIGAbit these days without breaking the bank. 10GIGAbit should run you just fine... Technically, you also shouldn't run a power strip off the UPS. They intend for each device to land on one outlet, thats why its got 6-8 outlets. If you run a powerstrip, you can overload a single outlet on the UPS. I think you can get away with it because it seems like you are only running the monitors and accessories off the power strip, so maybe not too much power, but certainly wouldnt want a high draw powerstrip going into one outlet on the UPS. Love what you did, so just providing some helpful thoughts for the server closet addition.

Keyboard Wacom mouse a the bare min, and then hard rive gallore. One question How come you didn't invest in the pegasus hard drive solution for your mac pro. Is it purely down to the hot-swappable nature of the drive bay you have/ using the space inside the mac? just thought it might take away another box for you.

Instagram is defiantly not real or not obtainable for me. My cable management is not going to be fun at all. I have two computers connected to a KVM. One computer is for work (supplied by my employer), and the other is my personal computer. My work computer is for graphics, animations and programing. My computer I do the same with it but for personal projects and gaming. Thanks for the video it gave me some ideas. I'm debating on monitor stand part of me wants one like yours, then again the gas spring arm.

Velcro is definitely where its at. Especially when you need to add or remove a cable. If you have those plastic cable ties, have fun cutting all of those and re-doing them afterwards, oh and manage to not cut into any cable insulations when removing those plastic cable ties. No way never doing that again. Just buy 10 m of velcro and cut pieces like you need them.
