@@JDIAthletics Yes, I drilled about 3 holes on the bar that is right behind the desk drawer. Helpful Info: Make sure the drawer is fully closed, so you can attach the cable raceway with enough clearance from the back of the drawer, so it continues to fully open and close properly.

Bro. I spent days of my life looking at different solutions but this was hands down THE BEST. I did a light sanding and spray painted it for a buttery matte finish. I had extra left over from my desk so I installed it on my wife's new desk and she was blown away by the functional benefit AND aesthetics (which 99% of everyone else's solution fails to achieve). This cable channel paired with a power strip screwed in under the desk is dope AF. Thank you so much!!! Keep up the awesome videos!

To make the power cord going to your surge protector/power bar look neater, you could try the following: Wrap the cord in a tight coil around a broomstick, or piece of dowel, and tape it there overnight. The next day when you remove the tape, the cord will be coiled like a spring, and stretch and contract with the raising or lowering of the desk.

This is. By far. The best video on desk cable management ever. I've done everything in this video, and I can attest to this working really well. My only nitpick is 7:02 - those cable plastic ties do not work at all. I got those exact ones, and they fall off the desk very easily. I think the best solution is to have a taught connection to the cable raceway at the back or use multiple of those cable plastic ties for each individual cable. The rubber cable clamps at 7:22 under the desk have been a better option for me.

For a one person install you can simply slide a pencil or something similar through the slots in the wire rack to hold excess wiring up until you are ready to snap on the cover. Then pull the pencils out and easy peasy lemon squeezy , your'e done . My desk is quite big and has a pinboard at the back. I just used cable ties for everything. You now can't see any cables and I even have a docking station cable tied back there so i can dock my laptop and use the same screens and audio as my PC and a fixed webcam. I have lighting too. All in one desk with just a single power and ethernet connection to the wall.

Good video! My one critique is that you used sitcky tape to mount your power strip when it clearly has mounting holes on the bottom. The tape will eventually come loose, guaranteed.

I'm STILL waiting for my standing desk (three weeks past original shipping date and still not shipped). But I've already spray painted my cable management tray(cos I'm OCD like you) and bought a lot of the same/similar items. Gonna buy a couple more after watching this vid to make sure I've got plenty of options once the desk finally gets here, so I can put it together ASAP . . . so, thanks for the tips!

I would not call the OCD. Neat yes but not OCD. It's still a little messy for my liking as there are still wires can be seen and no neat enough. Still what he does is pretty practical for general use.

Nice suggestion with the cable raceway. Painting it black to go along with your accent colors helps prevent drawing attention to it with the OEM color.

That paint is going to cure more the more time you give it, with anything that gets handled a lot I try to give it a week at room temp if you want to avoid scratches.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I would love to do this on my Varidesk, however, I hate the idea of drilling holes. Have you tried to put the snake thingy on with double sided tape? Also, can you tell me the drawer you bought? You did a great job. Oh, and I am patient do I will wait for the paint to dry. LOL

No I haven't tried that. I wouldn't recommend it...It would most likely be fine but depending on how many cables are in the raceway, I would go the safe route with screws! The drawer and desk are from ergonofis :) Thanks!

Nice desk setup. Minor improvement suggestion: You could cut the cover of the cable rack in smaller pieces to be able to not relying on someone helping you putting the whole thing together. You may then take off the cover were you need to work on and keep everything in there that’s already bound up. ✌️
