I admire her adoptive parents for being so honest with Becky about her adoption and her birth mother x
@BeautifullyChaotic1992

Her parents were by far open and honest with her. So much so, and in my opinion feeling she wasnt going to get anymore answers from her parents, that at age 11, she terrifyingly went and found out some answers on her own. She knew she was adopted and that was it until she was 8. Which I agree, was enough info until she started asking questions. At that point, when she questioned her parents, she was only told her bio monster was in prison and there was a book about her. So at age 11, she went out to find out answers, all on her own, all by herself. She tricked her baby sitter into telling her her bio monsters name. Then went to a bookstore and found out just enough about the monster who gave birth to her to scare the b- jeebers out of her, causing a reaction of slamming the book shut and running out of the store. 11 years old, reading a book, all by herself and completely alone. Then at 15, her boyfriend tricked her into watching the movie about what her bio monster did. Her parents were by far open and honest, nor there for her when in my opinion had the duty and obligation to tell her about who and what her bio monster was and did. Not at the age of 8, but certainly before she felt she had to do it on her own.

They made sure not to be totally honest and open too soon that would ruin her childhood and mental health. She got to enjoy her childhood. Her adoptive parents did great job, they were afraid if she finds out too soon she would get hurt, terrified and have all the mental health problems. Its hard if we put ourselve in adoptive parents shoes. They loved her. When you love ur child you get torn between whether to tell the true story or not to tell. Its really hard thing to do. Whatever adoptive parents did great job by not telling all story in details that would have really messed up her childhood and whole life since the beginning. She wouldn't have enjoyed her childhood because her small mind wouldn't have tolerated the truth about her monstorous mother and they let time and age do its job. So, later the daughter did find out all the truth by her own. Parents told the truth that she was adopted and her bio-mother was in jail which was enough to tell and know for a child at that moment.

I don't even know how her adopted family knew who her birth mother was. We adopted two children and we never knew the birth mothers names. Especially bad for them to pass the information on to the babysitter (and probably everyone else) who had no business knowing who was who. IMO, this is what made the child's life so difficult.

In the book "Small Sacrifices", it says that she wanted and planned on getting pregnant, and she knew she got pregnant easily. She met a man while she was on a break from walking on her postal route, and he was on a break and relaxing in the park. He KNEW who she was, as this was after she was arrested, yet was surprised and horrified that Diane Downs would play him?

James F You told Jo Chapman "...but I firmly believe Diane is innocent." That's because you're her brother, James Ferguson, and your opinion isn't objective. The numerous comments you have posted throughout these videos only serves to exhibit this fact. You simply ignore evidence.

What I will never understand is why Ann Rule kept the biologocal father information from Becky. No disrespect to Ann, I was a fan & may God continue to rest her soul, but I have the right to wonder why she had that loyalty to Diane when it came to that secrecy. Evil Diane did not deserve that loyalty from Ann! Even with Becky sitting right next to Ann, respectfully & rightfully touching the father subject with heavy heart, Ann still continued to have that loyalty to the secret & later took it to the grave. As much as I loved Ann, that is the one thing about her that I didn't understand.

A further incredible facet of this case was the consequent adoption of these children by Attorney Fred Hugi, who was prosecuting this case, and whose wife could not have children. Moreover, this involves the only eye witness to the crime, Christie Downs, who at the time of the crime was eight years old, and who testified against her mother after what must be assumed to have been brainwashing by the authorities. “The only non-circumstantial evidence in support of the allegation that Ms. Downs shot her children was the testimony of Christie Downs, who was coached for almost a year by former Lane County District Attorney Fred Hugi. [Note: It is not clear why Mr. Hugi continued to prosecute Ms. Downs on behalf of Lane County District Attorney Harcleroad after he decided he wanted to adopt Christie and Danny Downs. The unbelievable conflict of interest that existed when former Lane County Deputy District Attorney Hugi prosecuted the mother of the children he wanted to adopt is beyond the scope of this letter.]" Compare with CONSCIOUSNESS AND COGNITION 3, 388-407 (1994) Source Misattributions among Preschoolers STEPHEN J.
