Why is there so little information and research about diets with high protein, low fat, low carbs? Everyone talks endlessly about Keto but I just gain more fat the more fat I eat.
@megajatt123 Жыл бұрын
What u need is fast cycling. No eating for 3/4 days. Your TDDE wont drop, and your body will use up the stored glycogen in the 1st cycle, and from then on, use up your stored fat and extra skin. After the 3/4 days of fasting, eat a meal of Moderately lean (10% fat) meat, eat [{1.5*Desired final body weight in kg)+height in cm}/2] grams of protein with a big salad of lettuce and cucumbers. Keep hydration high, and take a pill or 2 of a good quality multivitamin to keep deficiencies at bay.

There is research in high protein, most people aren’t getting enough. Protein turning into glucose is demand driven, your body will make glucose as needed. And, protein does not raise your insulin. If you eat too much fat, you will burn dietary fat oppose to stored fat. Research Ted Naiman and the P:E diet.

I’m the same. I’m ravenous on Keto, I can literally eat fat until it comes out of my ears and I did it long enough to become adapted. The only thing that seems to work for me is Dukan style eating or Stillman. Stillman is extreme and hard to do. I’ve just started high protein, low carb, low fat. I eat between 30 to 50 carbs a day. I’m not hungry and the scale is moving fast.

@@Fakestockguru true but not the whole story. It would be more challenging to overeat protein, not at all challenging to eat simple carbohydrates (think sugar in processed foods) or fats (oils, butter, etc.).

Don't be afraid to eat a lot of good fat. The most important thing is to stop eating highly processed foods/sugars/junk food and industrial seed oils. Then work to lower your overall grain amounts. For me eating lots of good fat was critical. It kept me from feeling hungry and it got my body used to using fats. Over time I naturally lowered my fat intake, but I don't think there is any rush. We are not going to eat too much good fats, they are not addictive and they make you feel full and stay full.

It has taken me most of my life to finally get on the right track. After a journey of every possible weight loss plan known including low carb, I decided keto was for me…well it wasn’t. I felt and looked sickly from the keto flu for months. Then twos years later decided to return to low carb and thanks to your 21-day program it has been the right move. A slow steady weight loss, no stress. But keto created issues with my cholesterol and now with low carb I thought, too that a combination of low fat would be the answer. Initially I went a little too extreme but then found the right balance. Today I am in the right place for me. Thank you Dr Becky.

This video could not have popped up at a better time. I’ve been doing Keto with daily 19/5 IF for about 2 months and had some success in weight loss. In the past couple weeks I had started to feel tired and no energy. I had watched other videos on keto that push super high fat so I added more fat to my eating plan. What i noticed was that my morning fasting glucose started creeping up, it had be running around 80 but this morning it was 100. It’s come up a few points every morning since i added in extra fat. So, all that being said, I was just wondering about what role fat plays in the keto diet. Also, no weight loss since adding the additional fat. I too wondered the same thing, why not go low carb AND low fat to get results quicker. I see heated discussions about fat amounts and protein requirements all the time but I never know what is right so thank you for the detailed explanation. I feel like you answered every question I had on my mind today!

I have been Keto for over 2 years and have played with my Macros countless times. I find that higher fat, moderate protein (155g fat and 65g protein) works best for me. For reference, I’m 5’6” and 136lbs. If I decrease my fat and/or go too high on my protein I get MAD carb cravings and gain weight. I’ve found if I start craving carbs, I’m not eating enough fat. I have been known to eat butter, straight off the block. Yep, bite that butter right off. Don’t judge 😉 It works!! Best of luck - cheers

But I simply find that by way more often than not cutting down carbs & sugars to a minimum and coupling this with eating foods I know to be generally higher in fat percentage (fatty beef, eggs, avocado, heavy cream, animal fats and some fruit oils (avocado, EVOO, MCT) has worked fantastically for me. I generally eat just one or two meals a day with very little snacking. And I practice IF as well. Too much fat can cause similar problems as too much carbs in insulin resistant people. It isnt necessarily the energy input. The liver winds up seeing dietary fat via unemptied chylomicrons. It is important to understsnd the liver is not supposed to see dietary fat. See Dr Nadir Ali's video on this topic Feb 2022. I do much better on less fat and very little dairy. I have much less morning gluconeogenesis and my tryglicerides are down to 74 from my usual 140. 25 year history on keto, now carnivore. Agree no limit on fat for transition to low carb from SAD.

what about the caloric cost of digestion of protein? If the body digests 2000 calories of protein, isn't it true that it only receives a surplus of around 1500 - 1750 calories because the body spends 250 - 500 calories burning the protein. Plus the protein takes longer to digest than carbs and fats so leaves you full longer, leading to possible lower calorie intake, thus lower weight.

Then just cut back on other foods or just in other areas (ie: make your own “fancy Pumpkin Spice Latte”, or if you go out & eat every Fri with friends, just go 2x a mth) you could get the healthier fats. I found out that I don’t like to eat out as often because the food tastes “wrong?” or maybe “weird”. It’s hard to explain. Then by upping the things you want to might be easier. I agree with the first post. If it’s from the fifties and sixties, you wouldn’t be eating much processed food. And they did snack a little in the afternoons or evenings. Dinner at noon was the big meal. But I fully agree with eating meat and potatoes like my grandparents, born in the 1910’s, and my parents raised me with. And food wasn’t so weird. We had pie or cake most days and nobody was very fat. Leave off the frosting! Don’t add cream to mashed potatoes most of the time. Always have meat and vegetable, real gravy. Eat all garden fruits and vegetables a lot. And you can eat raw nuts, sparingly. We never had avocado, but a half a one is good. All living was moderation. And don’t eat too many carbs or calories, but don’t be concerned about counting them, either. Portion sizes is better or easier. Get out and walk. Or walk in place inside. Or vacuum a lot. Or sweep. Well, I wanted to be helpful. Hope it is. 🌎☀️

This is surely for people who are no longer looking to lose weight? Weight-loss and maintenance Keto are obviously different dynamics and I don't think you achieved a proper explanation of that here. You can totally and successfully prioritise protein in the weight-loss phase of Keto. Obviously in 'lifestyle' Keto you want fat to be a major macro because that's where your ketones will be generated and why exogenous ketones sources become important.
