A few other photo tips! 1. An easy way to get solid white backgrounds on photos - crosspost to Tradesy (super quick with a crossposting app) and wait about 24 hours. They white out the background on the cover photo for you and then you can grab that pic to use on other sites. 2. I prefer listing on my laptop because I can type faster there, but I use airdrop to transfer all my photos (batchwork!) from my iphone to laptop super fast. 3. I use a free app called collageable to do a side by side of front and back for longer items like jeans, maxi dresses, etc. to better fit in the square image size

I use TV trays a lot. My family uses them a lot for laptops, homework, - so for me the cheapest white background ( Instead of a light box ) setup is : (and as Becky mentioned using poster board) - I buy the white foam board and lay it on top of a TV tray . This works for shoes, jewelry , books, ties, belts , anything that will fit ( you do have to be careful like with shoes as you move around and take angles you might pick up some crazy item off to the side) And you can use this about anywhere you have good lighting - AND I have also used the white science board poster standing up and a couple foam boards on my dining room table to get pictures of a tall vase or cowboy boots ( that takes away the problem with the sides having unwanted images in the frame . ) I hope this helps someone !

I'm watching the video now on my TV (typing on my laptop), and it's helping a lot. Finding the right way to take the pictures has been a struggle for me for sure! Currently, I put a white bed sheet over the doors to my IKEA pantry and use a soft light thing my husband bought me to take the picture. I then try to edit out the background. Finding the right light without a lot of shadows is still very difficult. Anyway, I'm still looking forward to participating in the challenge. Just signed up! Thank you for the information as always!
@beckyparkco4 жыл бұрын
Scott McCoy yay! I’m so glad you signed up! I think that’s the most difficult thing about artificial lights. It’s the shadows they create. And you really don’t get that with natural light. But I know not everyone has a space in their house with good natural light, and I love how innovative you’ve been with your current photo setup. I feel like playing around with the angle of the soft light could help, but I’m also sure you’ve played around with that already. I’m sorry I can’t be more helpful!

beckyparkonposhmark oh you’re fine! I’m just trying to find a consistent picture-taking process. Oh, and I’m having issues with measurements and eBay returns. I’ve had some (like 2-3) instances where people buy a clothing item and state that the item is too small. I include measurements in my listings and then I kinda get called out as being “unfair” as the item doesn’t fit and they have to pay shipping to return to me. Any thoughts on that. Someone did this on Poshmark and they’re claim was denied by PM.
@lovelyred304 жыл бұрын
Definitely include measurements. I dont take pictures but I list them. Only bc when I Package the item it's ready to ship. I dont feel like going back to take measurements bc a customer asks. Just saves time and it doesn't take long to measure. Nice video! Thank you!

This challenge inspired me to stop insisting on using my mannequin for every photo of every women's top/dress/bra/etc. I am now hanging them on the wall and taking a single photo on the mannequin if I think it is needed. I used to put off "mannequin" items and they have piled up so bad because of it. I would reach for bottoms/shoes/accessories/men's/kid's since they didn't need the mannequin. And it isn't even the photographing. I can dismember and Frankenstein my mannequin really fast now with all the practice. It's the EDITING because I'm a perfectionist and always remove shadows/seams in the background and that takes so much longer with mannequin photos because the shadows and edges are more extreme than wall hang photos. So yeah, this challenge is already helping me be more efficient with my photos. So thanks already 😁

I use iPhone for my photography as well. The lighting in my house tends to make colors look "warmer" in photos, so I use a "cool" filter *while* I'm shooting the photos. The cool filter counteracts the warm tint so the photo colors appear as neutral as possible. You can add filters ahead of time to save yourself steps later.

I’ve only been reselling for a month and I’m not sure what brands will bring me the most money and in the area that I’m in I’m not finding the high end brands so I think maybe like your top 10 top 15 brands that will make money that are for sure in Goodwill‘s and thrift stores Will be beneficial for those newbies at reselling

Thanks for your video series this week. I'm not a new seller but I have picked up a tip or two. I am looking forward to next week! I need to upgrade my steamer. Do you like the one that you have now or is there one that you would upgrade to if money was no object?
@beckyparkco4 жыл бұрын
This makes me so happy to hear! Yay! Oh man...if money was no object...I really don't know! I know some of the big name resellers have promoted that like, $400+ Jiffy steamer; it's just hard b/c personally, I haven't done any research regarding steamers in that price range because that's not MY price range. haha. I do love the one that I have and don't really have too many complaints about it. Some people have complained about the handheld handle burning their hands or something, but that's never happened to me. It allows me to steam pretty continuously for I think like 30-45 minutes, and some people probably wish it could hold more water, but that is the perfect amount for me. Sorry if that wasn't too helpful! haha
@pamreid45974 жыл бұрын

Does your light box have diffusers over the lights? I tried to make my own 6ft tall light box with professional light strips etc and the photos are streaky and shadowy. I don’t want to spend $400 on Amazon for the one I’m trying to copy. I don’t get enough natural light and editing my photos affects the true color.
@beckyparkco4 жыл бұрын
Michelle Marie my light box has like a white sheet over it if that’s what you’re asking. And I struggle with true color too, but honestly, sometimes even the natural light can’t capture it. I just edit my photos and note it in the description if the color that ends up in the listing is different from the actual color. Even big clothing brands struggle with this online 🤷🏻♀️
