This is part 2 where we visited the famous Keukenhof tulip garden, visited the Amsterdam city centre for Tony's Chocolate, cheese and fries plus shared our souvenirs and of course more food!

I'm smiling as I watch this great video. I live in the south of the Netherlands an hour from Keukenhof. The tulips are amazing. The Dutch know how to do flowers! Dutch cheese is the best. I eat mostly Gouda 'Belegen' Miffy is Dutch and called Nijntje here. Tony's chocolate is a staple in my cupboard. Speculaas cookies are very popular at christmas. I love living here. I'm almost Dutch now! I've been here 30 years! So nice to see you on Dutch Soil.. xx

We also went to Keukenhoff in April, I bought 5 bags of tulip bulbs. I would definitely go again. We also bought pens, pencil cases, and a glasses case. I looked for a christmas decoration but didnt find one.

And me Sarah! Must admit I was a tad disappointed with the selection of tulips on sale. I somehow thought the more extravagant ones could be purchased but thinking about it, I guess it’s better to buy online for the autumn?!

@Wendy R Your not alone Wendy, I also thought that. Also was surprised to find the bulbs already had leaves on them when I got home. Some of my yellow fringed ones have actually produced two flowers on the same stalk - never seen that before!. Im quite impressed with those. Hope they do the same thing next year.

My favorite tulips are “Nightmare” and “Tarzan” ones. I got a Tony’s advent calendar last year from our neighbor. Before that I had never heard of that chocolate. Always have to laugh at the word brekky because in Germany “Brekkies” is a cat food.

Actually Doris I was quite well wrapped up, nice warm coat and soft wool scarf around my neck! My face did suffer from wind burn though! I knew it was going to be cold, it always is in the Netherlands at this time of year. One lady was wearing a beautiful orange sari with a light quilted jacket. I really felt for her!

I hope you had fun! Keukenhof is one big tulipparadise. Welcome in windy and wet Holland My favorites are blue tulips and yellow parrottulips. But my bulbs are always eaten by the fieldmice and the wild rabbits. What was your favorite Becky? Belgian fries are even better. Did you try the bitterballen? Is Miffy our Dik Bruna s NIJNTJE? ‘ old cheese ‘is actually a cheddar btw and comes in many forms and flavours …another interesting thing is plain yogurt is called ‘farmer’s yogurt’ in the Netherlands…took me ages to work out what food I needed to buy when living there 😂😂😂 I’m shocked you didn’t try anything with advocaat while there …you can get amazing cakes and chocolates

Enjoyed reading your comments especially regarding cheese. There’s a Dutch man who has moved to the West Country and produces wonderful Dutch Cheese. I do like the texture of Dutch cheese but it MUST have flavour! Not a big fan of Edam for example. We have purchased home made advocaat when we’ve visited Bruges, absolutely delicious! Delicious over ice cream!❤

@@wendywatchit my favourite way of having Advocaat is neat with whipped cream on top and eaten with a small spoon ( learned from my 90yr old Dutch partner’s grandmother) it’s a common why yo have it in the Netherlands….or a type of ‘french fancy’ cake but 4x the size and the cream is mixed with Advocaat ….they are delicious!!! Hi Mum Wendy here! I’m not too good on the sea either! Please don’t let it stop you going on a cruise! It all depends on the size of the cruise liner, where your cabin (stateroom) is situated. Getting a cabin on a lower down deck and situated in the middle rather than at the front or back of the vessel is less likely to make you feel less of the ship’s movement. A lot of liners have ‘fins’ that are used to stop the vessel from movement when it’s excessive. Some seas/oceans can be more ‘wavy’ than others and of course the time of year and weather can impact on the sea swell. If I know that it’s going to be heavy I always take a tablet in advance and if need be just go and take a lie down for a while. It can be good to go on deck (if passengers are allowed of course) and get some fresh air! Acupuncture sea bands are good too!

Looks like you had the most wonderful time! My partner and I have just been gifted a 2 week cruise and haven't been on one before. I'd love it if you did a video on helpful tips for cruising. Like temperature of cabins, things you now do or take with you having been on a few, whether the excursions are worth doing etc. That would be great especially being a younger first timer 😉😂
