Teaching is a gift that allows you to take a very complex subject and make it understandable for anyone. You are incredibly gifted and I’m very appreciative that you take the time to make these videos.

This video is criminally underviewed. Watching you paint with oils is so cathartic. I've personally never got past the point where I feel like I'm working against them rather than with them, but this has inspired me to break them back out and have another go

I really appreciate this comment and I'm glad if you're empowered to mess around with the oils!

man this is an incredible video! What I want to know is, what makes a paint "pure pigment"? does that just mean single pigment colors, or is some special type of paint? I paint a lot in oils and acrylics as well, and your results are really inspiring. I'm particularly glad that I get to see your "ugly stage" and that makes me feel less concerned about mine haha.

Pure pigment just means that the bottle of paint only has a single pigment in it - opposed to being a mixture of differnet pigments that you usually see with miniature paints. And yeah embrace the ugly stage all the way :D

would you recommend the gamblin oils over the W&N artist oils?

Oh, wow! That turned out great! Would you be open to go a bit more indepth about your mediums?

No mediums used for the oils on this one. Just some dilutent/thinner and the oils straight out of the tube. I would recommend to use liquin when using egyptian violet though. It makes it dry faster and this particular color dries veeery slowly.

@@Watchpaintdry_minis Ah, awesome! Saw the thinner and Liquin in your links in the description and thought you'd be going hard on either and for different purposes! Thanks for replying!

Emm do you know that you can use oils over acrylics, but cannot use acrylic paints over oils?
@Watchpaintdry_minis
@Watchpaintdry_minis 3 ай бұрын
If you let them dry and varnish, then you 100% can paint acrylics over oils.
@hrr222
@hrr222 3 ай бұрын
@@Watchpaintdry_minis no you cant. Oil paints in fin coats "dries" in few days, but need around a year to fully stabilise the film before any form of varnish. And even after that acrylic will not stick.

Quite honestly yes , i do it all the time u just need to give it some time and then be gentle don't over work it
@hrr222
@hrr222 3 ай бұрын
@@23brownbelt again "some time" means about a year. Otherwise oil layer under acrylic one will never fully dry (cos you prevent the oxygen to come by adding acrylic layer over). Also acrylic will not stick properly to the oil, and will fall off sooner or later. So overall the "construction" of layers will be pretty unstable and fragile.
