According to Peridot, the forced-fusion experiments that led to The Cluster that was intended to destroy the Earth began several centuries before Homeworld left our world and the three remaining Diamonds unleashed Corruption. It makes utterly no sense for Yellow, Blue and White to create The Cluster to obliterate Earth while simultaneously demanding that Pink Diamond fight for it. Hence, Pink Diamond was "shattered" during the early stages of the rebellion, not the later ones.

Here's something to think about: During the Gem War, Homeworld Gems saw humans as nothing but organic beings who were inferior to them in every way. During the neolithic era, humanity was still trying to invent new technologies and when early river valley civilizations were emerging. Make a note, the gems say that the war ended 5750 years ago, so the math says that from the year 2019 minus 5750 years rounds about to 3731 B.C.E. So the war happened during the Bronze age.) If Rose quartz (aka pink diamond) could rally gems who were created only to serve and be commanded by higher ranking gems to fight against the diamonds, then couldn't the humans be recruited to fight as well? Here me out!!! The Crystal gems have advanced weapons and have numbers ranging to the thousands, the war was taking place on earth, also during the time when humanity was at constant war with each other. I believe having an alien race invading and purging your home by taking the natural resources that every human needs to survive, would be theoretically spark the realization to every human that both humanity and the Crystal gems have a common enemy, and would join forces to fight Homeworld. Now, we know that humans aren't even compared to the physical strength of a Gem, what if, the crystal gems created suitable weapons and Armour for humanity to fight the technological advanced alien race? What if Bismuth built armor for humans to combat gem weapons? Maybe there was a point in human history where we even more technologically and militarily advanced than we are in today's society. So the question remains, you think would have at least wrote this point in their history down somewhere? The Egyptians wrote history in hieroglyphics, Sumerians with cuneiform, and all ancient civilization in human history would have told about the Gem Civil War for centuries, but its never recorded or told. Today, we as humans theorize that we were once visited by extraterrestrial life and we broadcast our discoveries on TV shows like "ANCIENT ALIENS." My point is, if the Crystal Gems were defeated by Homeworld, Earth and Humanity would have been exterminated and erased from the universe forever. So why wasn't this War recorded by humans, told on by the stories to the next generation or told by the surviving Crystal Gems? To me, something happened to mankind after the war that neither Garnet, Pearl and Amethyst aren't telling Steven. There aren't any historical ruins or monuments to recount what happened thousands of years ago. Humans fought and died to protect their families and home from aliens, and lead close to their extinction. Maybe the war was told in a different way and changed over the years. We may never know.

One thing I thought was really interesting was the Peridot says that era two gems are stunted due to lack of resources. That's why she has limb extenders when we first meet her. Is there any evidence in the show that the Diamonds decided to stop colonizing after the death of Pink Diamond? When you think about it the corruption of the crystal gems is really dark. Imagine all your closest friends you fought along side with start to see your enemy retreat. You all start celebrating thinking you won, and all the hardships of losing anymore are over. But then seeing a light come from the sky, and rose quartz can only protect you ( pearl ) and garnet. They literally watched their friends basically be killed, after thinking you won.

The only times we've seen a gem get cracked, they were healed by Rose Quartz's/Steven's healing powers, so I wonder if a gem could release their physical form to heal the crack, or if homeworld has a way to fix cracked gems, or if when their soldiers' gems got cracked, the Diamonds shatter them because they're no longer useful. ....Wow, that got dark.
