Words of appreciation from a beginner cyclist wanting to get better. Love your videos Subscribed 🍻Cam

Also for the beginners out there, could there be a video of the time frame a cyclist reaches from 15km avg to 35km avg speed In terms of months / years etc I reckon not only myself but a lot out there would wonder when they will reach the next level and how long it would take. Also how much effort is required etc. It’s winter in melb so I’m only able to do 2 outdoor rides a week, one being 50km and the other being 25km.

Not sure how I could make such content James, as there's too many variables. I would focus on zone training rather than average speed. Speed will inadvertently get better by focusing on zones.

I'm a very heavy rider to avoid the local steep gradients. Last month I decided to throw in my local big climb a couple of times a week. Boy was I in the alarm phase for them > 600w at 13% just keep moving forward at a walking speed. I've realised though using a much lower cadence than I'm used to, c. 45-40rpm actually helps a lot. Good to know what's going on behind the scenes.

Interesting to hear Andy. That is a serious climb. Keep it smart and you’ll be powering up there with ease after a few months.

GAS holds me back. Getting my Ass Started :D. I wander if learning to ride a unicycle would help shock those hidden muscles.

Great info Cam. Always good to hear it from a pro's perspective. I used to be one of those where every ride should be a hard one....until fatigue kicked in. Learned the hard way.

Yeah, I'm doing a TR plan and even on the smallest workload they allow, I'm still doing a hard workout both monday and Tuesday. I get wednesday off then a harder one Thursday and get Friday off and then i ride with mates Saturday. I'd actually prefer to ride every second day but its not practical.

These videos could be used by anyone to understand how to present and convey information on any topic. Compared to watching the daily COVID update presentation in NSW, these are chalk and cheese. So clear and no 'umms and ahhs'

Hey cam - relatively new to structured training and feeling that soreness you described at 1:48. How should I be reacting to this? Planned a real easy recovery day into my plan the day after this long ride but was still sore going into my workout the next day. Very sore/tired after workout (which didn't go great) and so now decided to listen to the body and take a day off. Should I even have done my planned workout still feeling sore? When should I get back to training? Thanks mate.
@roadcyclingacademy3 жыл бұрын
Listening to body is best. There are times to train on sore and fatigued legs but mostly not needed for recreational and amateur cyclists. I would be shining a light on the workout that made you sore. Did you overdo it compared to your previous training rides? Perhaps some learnings there for future big sessions. You want to slowly build into them.
