we LOVE your yammering!:).. by the way:)).*I responded to an unexpected mail from voices for an audition after I must have signed up in Covid haze a year ago?! No memory of it.. I said if they said yes and paid me for it.. I'd keep going! Only 4 months later, I've invested enough so I don't bail when it gets hard, yet also got creative with what I had from podcasting/youtubing:)). Oh..what a journey!I'm not even leaning in the direction of audiobooks as 30-60 min maxes me out, I like shorter.. Yet, I appreciate your energy and real thoughts on VO.. as I reroute everything now around vo:))..exhaling.. curious how this all turns out.. great to be here:))

I just found your channel and I appreciate all the wonderful, common sense info that's tried and true. You've given me a lot to think about. I'm going to weed through your videos to see if you have info on setting up the equipment. I'm not even sure I have quiet enough place to even get started. But I still want to learn! Regarding the question about how long a 30k word book should take, you divided 30,000 by 9300....I have a form of dyslexia with numbers and I cannot connect where the 9300 comes from. Could you please help me here? I am embarrassed to ask, as I'm sure it's something I should know, but it's not coming to me. Thank you. Sherri

@samiamisme never be embarrassed to ask a question, you're not expected to know everything! 9300 words is roughly how many words are in an hour of narration. Audiobooks are priced per finished hour, and a finished hour is 9300 words (roughly) narrated, edited and formatted.

Hi, can you please advise on how to set up the sound booth? I have all my equipment, but I am finding it awkward and difficult to get comfortable. How do you arrange your gear? How do you record while reading copy?

@@storytimewithmrs.cinnamon6634 arrange your gear so that it makes most sense for your space and you're comfortable. Move items outside your recording space if you need to with longer cables.

Thank you! My biggest issue is ; how do you read copy and record at the same time?

@@storytimewithmrs.cinnamon6634 put your copy on the screen so you can see both your DAW and your copy.
