Have you wanted to practice your Basic Fighter Manoeuvres but don’t fancy doing so on a multiplayer server? I will show you how to build a simple BFM training mission in today's video. We will use late activation and radio item add, which I have covered in previous videos. I will like them at the end.
It is worth noting that once you spawn and despawn/kill a group, you will not be able to spawn them again. This would be possible if you were to go down the scripting route. However, restarting the mission or making copies with different flag values would work.

The radio spawn menu is super helpful in a training mission. Combine it wil the repeating smoke and a ground attack range, and you can blast groups on the ground for hours 👍

Is there a way to configure triggers within a dcs bfm mission so the AI will fly straight at me, but AI holds fire until I have passed the AI AC's 3-9 line within 500ft?

I think it will be difficult and complicated. Maybe it could be done manually with the radio menu to switch them from hold fire to weapons free. If you want to practice dogfights then it would be far easier to find someone to practice with.

@DCSChopsticks It's dumb to me that-at best-it's highly complicated to do that with ai in dcs. Yeah, I would pvp, but I like to fly f14 and my experience doing pvp high aspect guns in f14 has been miserable since August 2020. So if I want to have a good time("good time" here means win) flying the f14 in dcs for guns bfm, I'm reduced/isolated to fighting ai in single player. My experience with F14B is "10/2019-8/2020=awesome for pvp" F14B "8/2020-present=miserably wretched worthless piece of shit for pvp"

the AI don't seem to attack, or at the very least it doesn't fire any missiles, only guns. I checked multiple times and I have mine configured just the same as yours.

Did you try: setting them to a higher difficulty or try the search and engage in zone task instead of CAP? There have been a lot of game updates since i made this video, so something may have changed.

In the aircraft which come with the Flaming Cliffs DLC, there is an option to have the plane call out missiles. It can be useful.

Holy cow, i need to make a video about this....nobody has made a good video for how to do an AI merge without the AI firing on you, and where you can spawn multiple times, doing the fight over and over

shouldn't one always in the Mission Options enable Enforce to everything whether on or off? that's what i was told when i started looking after the Funday missions.... so as to avoid conflicts in MP (i know it doesn't matter much in SP)

There are some options where that is important, for others it doesnt matter so much. Always do the immortal and unlimited ammo incase someone has been practicing with them turned on, forgot to turn them off 🤣

@@DCSChopsticks and that's why i always have Enforced on by standard so i don't have to think about it isn't it a strain on the server having to check/use others options if the Enforced is left off?

Not sure if you will respond, but when adding multiple En-Aircraft to spawn/despawn in the radio list, I have 8 aircraft, I have 16 radio commands with the maximum being twelve as there are only F1-F12 keys. any idea how i would go about having more than 12 radio functions and be able to use them all?

I have never tried to have so many radio options. Have you tried making the despawn a switched condition trigger, then linking all the aircraft to one radio item action? Otherwise i think you are crossing into the need for scripting realm of DCS 😬

I’m not entirely sure what you mean by switched condition trigger. That could be my solution but I don’t exactly know how to do it

When you make a new trigger there is a drop down menu under the first column. It will say ONCE in it, change that to Switched Condition and make a new radio item to despawn the aircraft.

Some mission i do make available. But the point is to learn how to make your own.

@@DCSChopsticks fair enough. I've been reading the DCS user manual. It's very detailed but it's not great at explaining sequencing. I'm trying to set up a mission where I can spawn in 10 enemy aircraft to dogfight. I don't see how I am going to achieve this based strictly off user manual reference.
