It’s nice to see a top pro show his recovery and everyday routines, something us players can take out of this video! I like how you really remind us how important it is to recover and be at your best physically not a lot of people do recover properly because they’re lazy or just simply forget about it. Keep up the content Matt love to see it! Can’t wait to play against you 🤪

That is the perfect scenario. The primary focus is cementing a hard consistent training routine, optimal sleep and diet. It's harmful to teach beginners about rest days, because they will abuse it, not focus on optimizing day-to-day recovery and never develop the right mindset. It's only when ur at the level when u have to be dragged off the pitch and out of the gym by force, etc. that rest days/deloads become critical.

As an academy footballer, an amazing thing i was recommended to do by a sports scientist was to do was to rest my mind as well as my body. They recommended me to do a specific style of deep breathing which is designed to improve blood flow to certain parts of the brain, helping to relax it! After about 1 month for only 10 minutes a day of doing this I was shocked with how much my recovery time had decreased! I have never looked back and have actually created a channel all about it to try to help others with it! Please if anyone is reading, do try to take care of your mind as well as your body on your rest days!

Good video, Matt. I am leaving tomorrow for Denmark, where I will study and play for a high level soccer team for a year. Matt, you really inspired me to take this step and get out of my comfort zone. You endured long periods of time in Germany and New Zealand without family or comfort, and you came out a better player. I am very grateful for the work you put into Become Elite. You are an inspiration to many, many soccer players out there. You should be very proud of yourself. Good luck for the rest of your season!!!

Yo guys I need help. Im gonna leave this copy and pasted on every football video I watch to increase my chances of people seeing this and helping me: I am joining my first football club age 15, I have never played for a club before, however I play football occasionally at school and I watch football matches all the time. I have no idea what position I should play so I will put a description of my build, strengths and weaknesses below and hopefully someone who is more experienced will be able to help me: Build: I'm 5'11 which is quite tall for my age I've got decent stamina, I can run 5k in 21mins 46secs (pb) I'm relatively strong but not as strong as I look I'm 70kg I'm pretty average when it comes to speed and pace Strengths: I'm quite good at shooting I'm brilliant at making crosses I can juggle very well, 311 is my record Relatively good first touch, not brilliant though Good work ethic and mindset, I wake up at 6:00 every day and train, I am always willing to make sacrifices and improve myself as a player I can pass well when I have space Weaknesses: I am not good at passing etc in tight spaces and intense situations I can do a few skills but nothing crazy, in 1 v 1s I can buy myself enough time and space to make a shot or cross Not brilliant acceleration and agility but I can reach the same top speeds as most other players First touch finishing i find quite difficult I'm not great at dribbling like someone like iniesta or hazard or who ever, I cannot weave in and out of players like they can I have pretty low confidence but I suspect this is due to lack of experience I overthink a fair bit, again probably due to lack of experience If someone can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated and I can also discuss more in the comments
